The NYPC team was honored to present two oral presentations and 10 poster presentations at this week’s annual meeting of the American Association of Physics in Medicine (AAPM). The meeting is the largest gathering of medical physics professionals, and we are grateful for the opportunity to present our groundbreaking research on FLASH radiotherapy and pencil beam proton therapy for various types of cancers. It was great to join our peers and hear key insights into how technology can be used for enhancing and optimizing care. #protontherapy #medicalphysics

We are excited to share that Dr. Minglei Kang, one of NYPC’s medical physicists, earned Best Clinic Poster at the Annual Meeting of the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG) last week in Singapore. Dr. Kang’s poster outlined research on FLASH stereotactic body radiation therapy – a technique that delivers ultra-high dose radiation in a fraction of a second and has the potential to drastically shorten treatment periods and also minimize effects to surrounding tissue.  Dr. Haibo Lin, NYPC's Director or Medical Physics, accepted the award on behalf of Dr. Kang.

We’re proud to be a leader on the cutting edge of proton therapy innovation. Just last week, members of the NYPC team traveled to Singapore to present at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG) and share their expertise with attendees from around the world. Our team of radiation oncologists, physicists, and radiation therapists presented at over a dozen sessions, chaired meetings, and earned Best Clinic Poster at the conference. NYPC is proud to be a leading voice on a range of critical research and issues that are helping shape and advance our field, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share at PTCOG.  #protontherapy #particletherapy #radiationoncology

New research led by the New York Proton Center’s Dr. J. Isabelle Choi found that invisible ink tattoos (IITs) for radiation therapy alignment can improve long-term quality of life and emotional well-being for people with cancer. Many of the patients who participated in the largest prospective clinical trial of IITs to date are willing to pay more or travel farther to avoid the visible ink tattoos traditionally used in radiation therapy.   Learn more about how this technology can help many patients put their cancer diagnosis behind them. #radiationoncology #protontherapy

Our Radiation Therapy team recently hosted staff from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) for a photoshoot in our Center. The photos featuring NYPC colleagues demonstrating set-up, positioning, and delivery of proton therapy, as well as CT simulation and PET-CT, will be used in the development of ASRT educational content for students and experienced technologists. Thank you to all who participated!

A fruitfull presentation with the title "Optimizing Re-irradiation in the chest: the role of SBRT in locoregionally Recurrent Lung cancers" by Charles SIMONE in #ISRS2024 in New York. During his presentation he mention that: - systemic therapy progress, upgrade importancy of Local Control improvement. - repeat of #SBRT has an increasingly established role for early stage #NSCLC reccurences and could lead to LC and OS improvement - #Protontherapy with its physical advantage could better protect previous irradiated organ at risk - #Flash Protontherapy could be in the future the treatment of choice reducing both acute and late toxicity (but still under research)
