📅Join us for the final strengths-based learning programme tomorrow! One of the consistent challenges in strengths-based work is navigating “endings.” How do we approach ending support in a way that ensures people lead their lives freely and in the way they want? We already understand a lot about systemic barriers such as arbitrary deadlines, time limits, complex rules, or eligibility criteria. But beyond these, is there more at play than we realise? What is our personal connection to ending support for the people we work with? In this session, Dr. Sarah Brown, Clinical Psychologist, and Oliver Townsend from Platfform, will explore these questions, the impact of systemic barriers and personal perspectives on endings. We’ll also be saying goodbye as a New System Alliance at this event, so please join us to learn about our next steps. Sign up for zoom link: https://lnkd.in/esJzcM7Q
New System Alliance
Non-profit Organizations
A home for people who feel frustrated, unheard or invisible in systems surrounding tough times.
About us
The New System Alliance is a UK-wide collaborative project founded by Mayday Trust in England, Platfform in Wales and Homeless Network Scotland. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, the Alliance's goal is to make strengths-based and relational working the norm across the public service systems people encounter when they go through tough times. We aim to do this by bringing like-minded people, organisations and networks together to share learning and strengthen and grow approaches. In 2023, the Alliance launched its innovative Strengths-based Directory, a page on its website which provides a resource for finding strengths-based organisations.

Don't miss the final Strengths-Based Learning session on September 12th, 9:30-11:30 AM on Zoom! One of the consistent challenges for those working in a strengths-based way is how to best navigate "endings." Mayday's evaluation of its strengths-based coaching approach highlights this as key to ensuring people can lead their lives freely and as they choose. We already understand much about the systemic barriers to "endings"—arbitrary deadlines, time limits, cumbersome rules, eligibility criteria, and more. But beyond these issues, is there more at play than we realise? What is our personal connection to ending support for those we work with? In this session, Dr. Sarah Brown, Clinical Psychologist, will explore these questions alongside Oliver Townsend, who helped implement a strengths-based approach at Platfform. It is fitting that we will also be saying goodbye as a New System Alliance at this event, so please join us to hear about our next steps. https://lnkd.in/ek93k_hc

Relationships - they're pretty important. Across the UK (and beyond) there’s a growing number of individuals and organisations working to strengthen relationships and prioritise them in their practice. But, somewhat ironically, they're often not very well connected. The Relationships Project have created a Relationships Map - a space for us to find one another, to share ideas and resources, to feel part of something bigger, and to realise more than the sum of our parts. The more of us that are on here, the more we can achieve, together. Please spread the word! https://lnkd.in/eBScfgVg

You're coaching a football team and have an incredible goal-scorer. You spend 90% of your time focusing on improving that person's goal-keeping skills, rather than utilising their existing talent. This seems ridiculous, yet it's how many approaches to supporting people play out. 999 Club offers person-led and strengths-based coaching to people experiencing homelessness in Deptford, London. Working alongside people, being led by what's important to them and exploring interests sounds simple, but it can be life-changing. How can we create change? Grapevine Cov and Warks take an approach that fosters an environment where people and communities can meet each other’s needs, claim power, take action on what matters to them, and transform services and systems along the way. It's a brilliant example of social change and we LOVE it! Join the Strengths-based revolution https://lnkd.in/edQvk7ft
