Breaking News: The federal government has awarded Grand Street Settlement two grants to provide Head Start, Inc. programming for 583 more children and their families. Grand Street will open our third Head Start center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and six new centers in one of the most underserved, yet vibrant boroughs in New York City. That's right, we're coming to the Bronx! We're grateful to our Representatives Ritchie Torres and Daniel Goldman for supporting this investment in their districts. We're also incredibly thankful for partners like Rigaud Noel and New Settlement, Denise Adusei and Bronx Children's Museum, Dr. Meisha Porter and The Bronx Community Foundation, Tara N. Happy 4th of July from New Settlement!

On June 20th, the Parent Action Committee (PAC) hosted the People's Plan Rally to address crucial budget cuts and issues affecting Education, Higher Education, Childcare, Housing, Immigration, and more. It's vital to keep fighting for what we believe is right and to support the programs our community needs. Together, we can make a difference!

The dance show from the Program for Girls and Young Women was absolutely amazing! 🌟 Each performance was so much fun to watch, with themes ranging from summer to light shows. Every act showed the hard work and dedication of our girls, and we couldn’t be prouder! A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible, from the organizers to the performers and everyone in between.

Last week, we dedicated a special day to honor and celebrate our incredible staff! 🌺🌟 A big thanks to MASP Director Lexxi for putting together this fantastic Hawaiian-themed day! The staff enjoyed games and contests like Limbo, 'Guess How Many Candy in a Jar,' and more. To show our thanks for their hard work, we're thrilled to announce that our staff appreciation parties will now be held quarterly, to appreciate each organization member's dedication and passion in helping us create a better future for everyone. We are incredibly grateful to you all!

Welcome to our new Associate Executive Director, Nina S. ✨   Nina is a visionary leader with over a decade of experience in driving systems-change and advancing equity. At United Way of NYC, she led the $25M EEAPC Inclusive Curricular initiative, creating the Black Studies Curriculum for all NYC communities.   As the founder and former Executive Director of X.C.E.L, she empowered thousands of young people in Brooklyn. A native New Yorker and HBCU alum, she holds a BFA from North Carolina A&T State University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from NYU.   A dedicated mother, Nina is passionate about creating a better future for all children. At New Settlement, she will continue to drive equity and advance systems change. #CommunityLeadership
