NM BLPEPS Goes International On August 13, 2024, the New Mexico Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors (NMBLPEPS) entered into a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the United Kingdom as crafted by the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) and United Kingdon Engineering Council (UKEC). This agreement outlines NMBLPEPS’ intent to provide a clear pathway for a UK Chartered Engineer (CEng) to obtain a license as a Professional Engineer in New Mexico, as well as a clear pathway for New Mexico Professional Engineers who are also on the NCEES list of International Professional Engineers (IntPE) to obtain a license as a UK CEng. One of the ambitions of this agreement is to improve public access in New Mexico to professional talent by increasing the number of qualified experts, while another aspect is to improve the opportunities of those highly qualified Professional Engineer experts already registered in the State of New Mexico through expedited international licensure.

UK Engineering MRA and New Mexico
Back from the #NCEES annual meeting in Chicago. While there I had the pleasure of representing New Mexico for the signing of the UK Engineering MRA. Once a few relatively minor rules adjustments are complete, the MRA will facilitate UK Chartered Engineers to come become Professional Engineers in New Mexico and New Mexico Professional Engineers who are also on the International PE registry (maintained by NCEES) to become UK Chartered Engineers.
