Workplace violence in healthcare settings increased during the pandemic and remains a serious concern for healthcare teams. NJ’s Healthcare Coalitions, made up of emergency preparedness professionals spanning NJ’s healthcare community, has formed a Workplace Violence Committee to foster collaboration, share resources and ideas and promote training. It’s just one of the many ways that NJ’s Emergency Preparedness teams amp up readiness to protect the health and safety of our patients, communities and employees. Blood donations dip in the summer months, so now is the time to make a difference. Please consider a workplace blood drive for your upcoming employee wellness/CSR calendar of events. A single blood donation can help up to 3 people, including cancer patients, trauma victims, women in childbirth and others who need our help. New Jersey continues to face an urgent need for blood donations.

A new report from NJHA examines the impact that childhood traumas can have on health status later in life. Our data analysis of these Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, among NJ patients finds that patients with ACEs experienced worse health outcomes and greater mental health and substance misuse issues. And, the share of patients who experienced such childhood trauma is growing. It’s an important part of understanding “the complex and fragile nature of health,” says NJHA President and CEO Cathleen Bennett. Read the release: https://lnkd.in/epX_Sezk

DYK? Organ transplants can be successful regardless of the ethnicity of the donor and recipient. However, the chance of longer-term survival may be greater if the donor and recipient are closely matched in terms of their shared genetic background. Together with our partners NJ Sharing Network and Gift of Life Donor Program, National Minority Donor Month is a time to raise awareness of the importance of this life-saving gift. Register to be an organ donor today at https://donatelife-nj.org/
