Today, NEW Health and Communities In Schools met with Representative Marcus Riccelli to discuss success stories of how rural programs are impacting students in career pathways. Mary Walker SD, located in Springdale, had a senior that became employed at the Springdale Dental Clinic. Shelby, NEW Health Assistant Manager, shared the similarities in their upbringings and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to mentor this student. Chelsea, CIS Coordinator at Mary Walker, highlighted the challenges of food insecurity faced by her students, especially during school breaks. NEW Health is excited to continue the conversations about transforming Jenkins Middle School in Chewelah into a Regional Workforce Development Center to serve the region's rural communities.
