I have officially completed my first APPE rotation at Network Health WI in Menasha. My experience there has opened my eyes to a unique pharmacy career pathway that has a wealth of knowledge. Throughout my time with Network Health, I had the opportunity to participate and make recommendations in meetings related to frequent emergency department utilizers and opioid over utilization, work on prior authorizations, predeterminations, and appeals, attend a P&T meeting, assemble overdose prevention kits for Vivent Health for International Overdose Awareness Day, and write patient educational pieces on testosterone supplements and Alzheimer’s medication adherence. I would like to thank my primary preceptor, Beth Coopman, for making this a great experience and allowing me to grow as a student pharmacist. An extra thanks to the Network Health pharmacy department for welcoming and integrating me into their team and workflow. I can’t thank Network Health and Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy enough for this invaluable experience!
Please join us in congratulating our President and CEO Coreen Dicus-Johnson on being honored last week as a 2024 Woman of Influence by Insight on Business. Coreen was one of only eight honorees from more than 75 nominations across the New North Region. This fifth annual class of honorees represented a wide range of influential women including entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, nonprofit leaders, community volunteers and education professionals. Thank you, Coreen, for your tenacious leadership and continued focus on Network Health’s mission and vision.

My first APPE block has been off to a great start at Network Health WI in Menasha, WI. Today is National Intern Day, so Kailee, Concordia pharmacy student, and myself were recognized as being the two pharmacy interns at Network Health. My time at this site has allowed me to expand my skill set by working on medication therapy management tasks such as Medicare’s annual comprehensive medication reviews, learning more about how both commercial insurance and Medicare works for patients, along with many other things. I am thankful for this unique APPE elective option and the new connections I have made with the Network Health pharmacy team and Kailee. I am looking forward to the last two weeks at Network Health!
