NetHope’s Digital Nonprofit Ability™ Benchmark gets an update! Together, NetHope and its Members are moving the sector to the brink of becoming digital. Over the past six years, nonprofits have made significant strides in their digital transformation, leading NetHope’s Center for the Digital Nonprofit to establish a new benchmark for the Digital Nonprofit Ability™ (DNA)! In his latest blog, Jean-Louis Ecochard, Chief Innovation Officer and Senior Director of the NetHope Center for the Digital Nonprofit, describes how nonprofits have moved the needle on digital transformation since NetHope created the DNA Assessment in 2018. NetHope’s latest research reveals that nonprofits are advancing the digitalization of their programs and operations with equal importance, including a trend towards client-centric workflows, agile networked structures, and data-driven decision-making. We are so pleased to see NetHope's AI Code of Conduct has launched. Many organisations are currently grappling with how to incorporate #AI into their humanitarian work effectively. Our research on emerging technologies has shown that in the past, #humanitarian organisations often developed their own internal regulations and use cases around new technologies, which led to confusion and inconsistent practices across the sector. This is why it's refreshing to see organisations coming together under NetHope's leadership to establish a shared approach for the #ethical use of AI. Through collective action, we can create a consistent, transparent, and responsible framework that benefits all.
The Humanitarian AI Code of Conduct is here! Discover the blueprint for ethical AI in humanitarian work! The Humanitarian AI Code of Conduct is a pivotal resource for organizations navigating the complexities of AI technologies. Read the code here: https://lnkd.in/eTgtKgv4 The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, in particular those powered by Machine Learning (ML), using Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI, presents a new challenge for humanitarian organizations. AI is creating new opportunities for organizations to make better use of the data they collect, automate processes and create efficiencies, and ultimately (and ideally) improve operations and analysis, and support content generation to improve the lives of those we collectively work to support. The risks of AI have been well documented, and the NetHope community has produced many resources to help organizations mitigate this risk. AI technology has the potential to further entrench inequality, deepen existing divides (including the digital and gender divides), and worsen conflict and fragility. There are opportunities and benefits, and these should be utilized; however, to do so without agreement amongst the sector about how to engage ethically and fairly with this technology risks putting ourselves on the backfoot. By collaborating with the NetHope AI Working Group in drafting an AI Code of Conduct with and for the sector, NetHope and its Members create a unique opportunity to thoughtfully and collaboratively work together to address and mitigate risks, demystify AI technology, and set responsible standards. It also supports internal, individual efforts by organizations in drafting their own policies and procedures as well as align better with legislation and governance efforts which are rapidly evolving in both the public and private spheres. As governments set out to legislate AI, we should also be inspired by the action for Humanitarian organizations to self regulate practices.
