About us

North Carolina Department of Administration reposted this
“I remember riding my bike from my grandma’s house down on Lane St. to this very gym to play basketball and get bologna sandwiches and juice during the summer when she would watch me. I learned how to swim over at Royal Lane Park.” It was an honor to moderate a panel on environmental issues in Sampson County, where I spent time as a kid with my grandmother, and how the community can advocate for their needs. My mother’s family is from Clinton, so this is a very full circle moment to come back here, less than a mile from my grandma’s house to speak to a community that’s like home to me. Even my aunt came out to show support and hear about the issues. On Thursday, Aug. 29, the Governor’s Environmental Justice Advisory Council met in Sampson County at the Sampson Center, for an in-person community engagement meeting. The next full committee meeting will be on Set. 24, 2024 in Stanley County.
