NBC Bay Area reposted this
I know it sounds cliché but it really is a honor to simply be nominated for a #newsemmy. NBC Bay Area’s 911: Hanging on the Line series was nominated for a national Emmy in the category of Outstanding Regional Investigative Reporting. The win went to a project out of Baltimore that exposed how children with disabilities were getting cheated out of an education. Much deserved. Fun fact: That’s photographer/editor/graphics artist Jeremy Carroll with me on the red carpet. 14 years ago, when I first stepped into @nbcbayarea as a mentee, I saw the magic he put into every story. It became my dream to work with him and the crew. Here we are J. It’s so wild! And a privilege. After 20 years of failures, Oakland’s 911 system is finally starting to turn around. But let’s not take our eyes off the issue. It’s still the worst in California, and just this summer a woman in Oakland walked into her bedroom and saw an intruder. While hiding in a bush outside, she was on hold with Oakland 9-1-1 multiple times, for several minutes each. Just this summer, 3 men held another news team at gun point in Oakland. The crew called 9-1-1 and say they were on hold for 10 minutes. Luckily, they are okay. We won’t stop reporting on this until it is fixed. Huge thank you to our incredible leaders and fellow Investigative Unit journalists for making this possible: General Manager: Stacy Owen VP of News: Stephanie Adrouny Asst News Director: Bob Goldberger Lead Photographer: Jeremy Carroll Producer: Sean Myers Photographer: Alex Bozovic www.nbcbayarea.com/911
