About us
The Navy SBIR Transition Program (Navy STP) supports the successful transition of Navy SBIR/STTR-funded technologies into military acquisition programs, commercial markets, or both. Now in its 25th year, the Navy STP serves as a platform for connecting SBIR/STTR-funded technologies with warfighters, government acquisition and technical personnel, prime contractors, system integrators, and other potential partners and collaborators. This DoN SBIR Program initiative takes a holistic approach to assisting participating small businesses in transitioning their innovative technologies that address the specific needs of the U.S. Navy. Through business mentoring, one-on-one coaching, marketing strategy development, marketing material creation, networking events, and promotional activities, the program provides comprehensive support to help small businesses navigate the complex transition process. Funded by the DoN SBIR Program, all small businesses with active Navy-funded Phase II SBIR/STTR awards are eligible to participate in the program during the first or second year of their Phase II development and demonstration work. Navy STP participating small businesses achieve a 68 percent greater likelihood of transitioning their technology than those that do not participate.

It’s Human Performance Technologies Week! Technology Holding, LLC, Salt Lake City, UT Innovative Method for Development of Hemp-based Fabrics: Hemp-based clothing are excellent for outdoor active wear, due to high strength, UV-protective qualities, mold resistance, and excellent moisture absorption and desorption. Although hemp has excellent properties, hemp fabrics and garments still face major challenges in the fabrication process and wearability. To achieve the overarching goal of high-performance hemp military uniform, the first and crucial step is to develop high-quality hemp yarns. The proposed project will develop an innovative hybrid spinning process to yield wearable grade fabric yarns. Navy STP will highlight the participating small businesses in this year’s Cohort. These small businesses are on a current US Navy SBIR Phase II contract developing innovative technology to meet a Navy-need. It’s Human Performance Technologies Week! VISHWA Robotics, Cambridge, MA Gajjar Innovative Submarine Escape Suit (GISES): Internal conditions of a distressed submarine may require some, if not all, of the survivors to initiate single person escape in lieu of waiting for rescue forces to arrive. Due to the risks associated with deep sea escape, a new and improved single person escape technology for escape from 1000 fsw is needed. This challenge may involve addressing the physiological stressors on the diver's body associated with deep escape, the mechanical systems of the suit used to accomplish escape, or a combination of both. The Gajjar Improved Submarine Escape Suit (GISES) is thus being proposed to successfully accomplish single-man escape from 1000 fsw eliminating the primary risk of barotraumatic diseases. Navy STP will highlight the participating small businesses in this year’s Cohort. These small businesses are on a current US Navy SBIR Phase II contract developing innovative technology to meet a Navy-need.
