We connect young people to the natural world in nature's best classroom—our national parks!

About us

Environmental science in nature’s classroom NatureBridge provides hands-on environmental science programs for young people. Our multi-day programs take place outdoors in the magnificence of nature’s classroom, where students are immersed in the wonder and science of our national parks in Yosemite, Golden Gate, Olympic and Prince William Forest. Founded as Yosemite Institute in 1971, today NatureBridge welcomes more than 700 schools and 30,000 students and teachers annually to our four campuses. After more than 50 years of teaching and inspiring students, NatureBridge has provided life-changing experiences for more than one million participants and is a national leader in the field of environmental education. Providing access for all students NatureBridge environmental science programs are inclusive. We work intentionally to bring students from underserved communities to our programs and to offer culturally relevant and transformative experiences in our national parks. Almost 50% of our participating schools receive scholarship support and more than 30% of our students are from underrepresented communities. The NatureBridge business model is fueled by a powerful combination of earned and contributed revenue. More than 70% of our revenue comes from the tuition associated with our environmental science programs and the remaining 30% comes from donations. As a 501(c)(3) we rely on generous donations to advance our mission, to provide scholarships, and to support new curricula development and program extensions into classrooms. Making an impact Our staff of environmental science educators is at the core of our organization. Working with small groups of elementary, middle, and high school students, our educators bring science to life in national parks through engaging environmental science lessons paired with walks, hikes, scrambles, explorations and overnight backcountry expeditions to the best spots in each park.

🌳 This past weekend was National Public Lands Day, reminding us of all the wonderful parks, forests, historical sites, marine sanctuaries, and more that we can access. 🏞️🌲 NPLD is one of many important fee-free days that help facilitate wider accessibility to these amazing places. 🛶 But for all fourth graders and their families, the Every Kid Outdoors program grants them yearlong free access, even beyond days like National Public Lands Day. 🆓 🎒 Do you have your Every Kid Outdoors pass? 🥾 Go to https://lnkd.in/eKxXihje to get yours today! #EveryKidOutdoors

✨ 🍁 It’s National Public Lands Day!⛰️ ✨ Today, entrance to all federally-protected lands is free, and an important barrier to accessing nature is broken down—because everyone deserves to enjoy our public lands. On NPLD, we come together to volunteer, connect with our communities, and celebrate the beauty and value of these spaces.🌄 As a reminder, access to our national parks is free all year long to fourth graders and their families across the country, thanks to the Every Kid Outdoor Program, a federal program that provides free passes to national parks, lands, and waters to fourth graders and their families. (Learn more about EKO at the link in our bio!)🌲 🥾 Share in the comments how you plan to participate in NPLD! 🎒

📆 Mark your calendar for National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28! On NPLD, entrance to all federally-protected lands is free, and an important barrier to accessing nature is broken down, as many families cannot afford to access our public lands. For fourth graders and their families, however, national parks are free all year long, thanks to the Every Kid Outdoor Program, a federal program that provides free passes to national parks, lands, and waters to fourth graders and their families across the country. (Learn more about EKO at the link in our bio!)🌲 In addition to being a chance to come together to preserve our public lands, National Public Lands Day is an opportunity to connect with new communities, build relationships, and experience the joy of being outdoors. This year’s theme, “Together for Tomorrow,” invites us to unite in protecting these spaces for future generations. 🌎✨ We’re celebrating NPLD and Every Kid Outdoors month by bringing our communities outside, learning together in nature, and highlighting the importance of the Every Kid Outdoors Program. Let’s get outside and make a difference together! 💚

Fall environmental science programs are now in full swing at all four of our NatureBridge campuses nationwide, and we're so excited to see the student discoveries happening every day! 🔍 At NatureBridge Yosemite, the Merced River was at the heart of the week's explorations for a group of eighth graders from St. John Notre Dame. They explored how this powerful river helped shape Yosemite Valley millions of years ago and got hands-on data collection experience as they investigated how environmental stressors impact the macroinvertebrates living in the watershed. 🪲 Their week culminated with an inspiring hike to Clark’s Point, where the students took in the stunning 594 foot drop of Nevada Falls. An unforgettable journey blending the wonder and science of nature! 🌊🌲 #outdoorlearning #NatureEducation #EnvironmentalStewardship #NatureLovers #YouthInNature #ExploreOutdoors #SustainableFuture #HandsOnLearning #NatureConservation #ProtectOurParks

🌲 It’s Every Kid Outdoors month! 🥾 We’re partnering with Outdoors Alliance for Kids to spotlight the Every Kid Outdoors program, which gives all fourth graders and their families FREE access to our nation’s public lands and waters, including our national parks. ⛰️ It's an incredible program that offers amazing opportunities for families to explore nature together—but it is at risk of ending unless Congress takes action to extend it. At NatureBridge, we know how important it is to spark a lifelong love for nature at a young age, and we see firsthand how connecting kids to the outdoors changes lives. 🌿 Help us spread the word and ensure the future of the Every Kid Outdoors program!
