Beyond his impact on sleep health advocacy, Joe also received the Journal of Behavioral Sleep Medicine’s Distinguished Mentor Research Award for his work with NSF’s Research Scholar Spencer Nielson, who was recognized with the Distinguished Mentee Research Award from the Journal of Behavioral Sleep Medicine. Important progress from Meta and Instagram: new teen accounts for younger users that restrict certain content and have a sleep mode during night hours. Electronic use can disrupt sleep in kids and teens and engaging content can delay sleep. NSF recently convened an expert group of researchers to develop a consensus guideline for screen use and sleep.
