“EPIS is not only about bridging the health equity gap but also about sparking a larger conversation on how shared knowledge and training can empower public health efforts at the community level. It's a testament to what can be achieved when departments come together for a common goal—improving the well-being and health of every community member, regardless of their zip code,” said Montrece Ransom, Director of the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Training (NCCPHT) at NNPHI.

The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is among the 13 who participated in the 2024 Evaluation and Program Improvement Scholars Program (EPIS). Their department is actively working to enhance sexually transmitted infections (STI) prevention and treatment outcomes through better data collection and reporting. By assessing how contracted sites collect STI treatment data and evaluating reporting mechanisms, they intend to enhance the quality of STI treatment data, ultimately supporting improved treatment outcomes and better connections to care.
