October is Manufacturing Month! 🎉 At NIICA, we are proud to celebrate the innovation and impact of U.S. manufacturing on our economy. Did you know that the manufacturing sector contributes $2.65 trillion to the U.S. economy, employs nearly 13 million workers, and makes up 10.3% of the nation’s GDP? 💼💡 As we continue to build and expand skill-based learning pathways, we’re committed to fostering growth in this essential industry and supporting the future workforce in manufacturing and advanced technologies. Let’s use this month to recognize the vital role that manufacturing plays in driving our economy and innovation. #ManufacturingMonth #WorkforceDevelopment #AdvancedManufacturing #SemiconductorManufacturing Source: International Trade Administration

"We’re not losing the semiconductor race due to lack of investment—we’re at risk because we aren’t training the workforce we need." 📣 In his latest article, NIICA's President and CEO Mike Russo lays out the workforce challenges facing the U.S. semiconductor industry and how Registered Apprenticeships (RAs) play a crucial role in closing the skills gap. At NIICA, our mission is clear: to build a sustainable talent pipeline that meets the needs of high-tech industries like semiconductors. By working closely with employers, educators, and government partners, we are creating real, life-changing opportunities for workers while strengthening America's competitive edge. 💪 This is about more than just filling jobs—it’s about shaping the future of the workforce and ensuring our nation's continued leadership in this vital industry. Registered Apprenticeships change lives. 💡 Computerworld's article by Lucas Mearian spotlights the growing workforce challenges in the semiconductor industry, but more importantly, it focuses on the human side of the story. Kendall McDaniel, an apprentice at Indium Corporation, is a powerful example of how RAs are not just filling jobs—they’re transforming lives and careers. Our work at NIICA wouldn’t be possible without the support of our broader ecosystem. Partners like Indium Corporation, NY CREATES, and Austin Community College are essential in building the talent pipeline needed to keep America competitive. Together, we’re creating opportunities while strengthening the semiconductor manufacturing industry. #SemiconductorIndustry #WorkforceDevelopment #Apprenticeships #TalentPipeline Micron Technology U.S. Department of Labor Clayton Nagel Laura Marmolejo, Ed.D https://lnkd.in/gM4sk9AY

Computerworld: “…new employees who’ve never worked in the semiconductor field can get “imposter syndrome” working in high-tech jobs that often require math and science backgrounds. ‘I encourage them to not get overwhelmed,” said Joe Rondino, a cleanroom operations manager for NY CREATES, a non-profit semiconductor R&D facility in Albany, NY. “I tell them to trust the training programs we have and the mentors you’re given. As long as they’re hard workers, opportunities will present themselves.” Read more here: https://bit.ly/3zpu6b0 National Institute for Industry and Career Advancement Hudson Valley Community College Indium Corporation GlobalFoundries Micron Technology #GAINS #workforcedevelopment #semiconductor
