🌟 Exciting moments from the 2024 Association of Science and Technology Centers Conference! 🌟 Our CEO Karen Peterson, had the incredible opportunity to meet Dr. Sian “Leo” Proctor, Ph.D., the first Black female spacecraft pilot. 🚀 At today’s session, Dr. Proctor shared her inspiring journey from space to art and poetry during the pandemic, captivating us with her message of legacy and representation. ✨ “I realized I was being bathed in earth light...why don’t we talk about earth light – the most beautiful light there is.” Dr. Proctor is on a mission to “bring earth light down to earth,” reminding us that representation matters. She stands on the shoulders of trailblazers like Bessie Coleman, the first African American woman to earn a pilot’s license in 1921. A century later, Dr. Proctor flew to space, becoming one of only 100 women ever to do so. 🌍👩🚀 #WomenInSTEM #SpaceExploration #ASTC2024 #RepresentationMatters #NGCP

We were thrilled to attend the recent event hosted by the Ohio Afterschool Network and Ohio Girls Collaborative Project. It was great learning about the current state of girls in STEM across Ohio and collaborating on strategies to move forward. We loved hearing from diverse leaders, including K-12 educators, state leaders, and youth participants, who came together to share insights and build a stronger future for girls in STEM. The youth panel was absolutely fantastic!
