🚨 Action Alert 🚨 1. NCFA is deeply saddened by the recent news that China is ending intercountry adoptions. 2. We grieve for the children who could have had permanent, loving families but instead will remain in institutions. 3. Families who were matched and approved to adopt deserve more information. Tell members of Congress that children and families deserve better. Urge your representative and senators to request the U.S. Department of State get clarity from China on in-process adoptions! Visit our action center and write to your congressperson today! React to and share this post to spread the word and encourage your friends and coworkers to write their members of Congress ♻️ Link in comments 🔗 #adoption #intercountryadoption #China #StateDepartment

  • 📝 On the Blog 📝 As we mark #NationalKinshipCareMonth, let’s #throwback to this piece on strategies that can help adoption professionals and social workers as they guide others through kinship adoption. In issue No. 164 of the Adoption Advocate, titled “The Hidden Hurdles and Benefits of Kinship Adoption,” Christine Tangel, LCSW, director of pre- and post-adoption services at Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children, talks about the interventions that kinship-adoption professionals and social workers can apply throughout the home-study process. 📝 On the Blog 📝   Adoption is full of complex emotions.    The most exhilarating news for one person is often deeply bittersweet for the other — namely, for the birth mother as she entrusts her child to another family.    Meshan Lehmann, pregnancy social worker for Paths for Families, in a recent edition of the Adoption Advocate writes about the competing emotions that often come with adoption.   As we mark #GriefAwarenessDay, let’s pause to acknowledge birth mothers’ grief and loss, and appreciate the incredible sacrifice they make to give their children a better life.    Link in comments 🔗 #adoption #grief #expectantmother #birthmom
