We’ve published a new report! Clocking Inequality: Understanding Economic Inequity, the Wage Gap, and Workplace Experiences of AANHPI Women includes interviews we conducted with AANHPI leaders and community members and analyzes how gender impacts their working conditions. This report uncovers and uplifts many barriers faced by AANHPI women & gender expansive individuals, including workplace discrimination, inadequate employee benefits, and unpaid labor for caregiving. Shoutout to our partners Korean American Community Foundation (KACF), Apna Ghar, Inc. (Our Home), BAWDI, EPIC, HEART Women & Girls, JAHAJEE, KAN-WIN, and LANA for helping make this report possible. Building power with AAPI women and girls since 1996
About us
NAPAWF is the only organization focused on building power with AAPI women and girls to influence critical decisions that affect our lives, our families and our communities. Using a reproductive justice framework, we elevate AAPI women and girls to impact policy and drive systemic change in the United States. NAPAWF was founded in 1996 to realize the vision of 100 AAPI women who recognized the need for an organization that would amplify AAPI women’s stories and experiences. Being seen and heard in the public narrative gives us the power to shape the policy and cultural change needed to gain agency over our lives, families, and communities. Today, we are mobilizing and building power in 11 cities across the United States to create social, political, and economic change for AAPI women and girls. We also show up in solidarity for other women of color who are experiencing injustice and harms of oppression and marginalization.

It’s #WorldMentalHealthDay today – and AANHPIs are less likely than other racial groups to seek mental health services. There are several causes for this – therapy is expensive, restrictions on insurance coverage for immigrants make care inaccessible, and cultural stigma keeps people from seeking care. We also need better data to address this problem. Existing literature on mental health often excludes AAPI women entirely or completely aggregates different AAPI sub-groups, effectively flatting AAPI communities and hiding many people’s experiences. We all deserve to live better, happier, healthier lives

The Joy and Justice tour event on Saturday, October 14th in Orlando, Florida has been cancelled due to Hurricane Milton. The NAPAWF Florida team and their families have evacuated the state. We urge everyone in the storm’s path to seek shelter and safety. Our hearts are hoping for the safety of Floridians and everyone who is impacted by the storm.

Despite as many as half of Asian American women experiencing intimate physical and/or sexual violence, we are often excluded from the domestic violence conversation. Let's break the silence this Domestic Violence Awareness Month and support survivors in the AAPI community. Learn more about how domestic violence impacts AAPI communities and resources to support survivors below. https://lnkd.in/eEpWcHK https://www.api-gbv.org/ https://www.ncdsv.org/ https://lnkd.in/eaeSf-ME https://lnkd.in/eUY2pmBc

On Monday, a judge struck down Georgia’s abortion ban that had taken effect in 2022! Every day this ban was in place was an injustice to the bodily autonomy of every person in Georgia, and if the ruling stands, this is a significant step toward restoring abortion access in Georgia and a victory for our reproductive rights. https://lnkd.in/eAJhrfHs

Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller should be here today. Yet the harmful conditions created by Georgia’s six-week ban criminalized the lifesaving care they needed. These losses are devastating. We can’t afford to sit idly by while more lives are lost; we are calling for a mass mobilization to #TrustBlackWomen in the fight for Reproductive Justice. Join SisterSong other leaders for a vigil and rally on September 28th at 2 PM at the Georgia Capitol. https://lnkd.in/dxgYVaDW
