Caring for Nantucket Since 1911
About us
Nantucket Cottage Hospital is a non-profit hospital that serves the residents and visitors of our island community by providing a broad range of health and wellness services. But we’re also so much more than that. We are your friends, neighbors and family. Our relationships with our patients don’t end after an appointment or discharge. We see our patients at the grocery store, in the schools, at the ballfields, and on the ferries. Our doctors, nurses and medical professionals are part of the island community in so many ways, which makes our sense of responsibility to our patients even greater. Since 1911, Nantucket Cottage Hospital has cared for island residents and visitors with compassion and integrity. Today, more than 100 years since our founding, the hospital is providing more care to more people than ever before by leveraging advanced technology and forging new partnerships. Through our affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital, we are able to give Nantucket residents and visitors the best of both worlds: the comfort and familiarity of a small, community hospital and the world-class medical resources of one of the finest hospitals in the country. From primary care to specialized medicine and surgery, Nantucket Cottage Hospital is the island’s primary source for health and wellness services. And it is our relationship with and commitment to the island community that drives us to fulfill that role everyday.

As healthcare providers across the country continue to confront the national IV fluid shortage following the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene, Mass General Brigham has made the difficult decision to defer some non-emergent, elective procedures requiring certain IV fluids from Sunday, October 13, through at least Wednesday, October 16. While we strive to minimize any impact on patients, these measures will ensure we are able to care for those in immediate need. Due to the unpredictable nature of this situation, we do not know when our supply of IV fluids will improve but we are closely monitoring and will continuously evaluate to ensure we can return to normal operations as soon as possible. We are contacting affected patients and will work to reschedule them as soon as we are able.

This year’s Lifesaving Award recipients included Seth Engelbourg, Erin O’Brien, Tyler Herrick, Kevin Johnson and members of ACK Surf School: Gavin Norton, Alex Horan, Brad Gebhardt, Chase Bomiesler, Turner Garland and Jackson Roberts. A special thank you to our Event Chair, Bill Kupper, our sponsors, including the presenting sponsor Marine Home Center, and our golfers for raising the funds needed to support the general operations of the hospital.

Mass General Brigham is bringing a comprehensive and integrated approach to cancer care, helping patients navigate their entire journey of care, from prevention and early detection to treatment and survivorship. The system will leverage the power of its strengths in research, innovation, education, and community engagement to deliver integrated cancer care for our patients, putting health equity at the center to support underserved communities. “The frontier of cancer care is evolving, and we must shift away from treating cancer to treating patients with cancer,” said Anne Klibanski, MD, president and CEO, Mass General Brigham.
