CA State Assembly Voting This Evening on Legislation Attacking Warehouse Development Statewide URGENT ACTION NEEDED to Stop the Bill! ATTN: NAIOP SoCal Members and Friends, At some point this Saturday evening, the California State Assembly will vote on Assembly Bill 98, an eleventh-hour anti-warehousing bill, which narrowly and controversially passed on the State Senate floor earlier today by a 22 – 16 vote. The bill was approved in the State Senate – with abundant arm-twisting on extraneous issues – by one vote more than the minimum number required to pass. Today is the last day of the current state legislative session. Given that AB 98 has now moved to the State Assembly floor, we have one last chance to defeat it. We need YOUR CONTINUED HELP to stop this bill! Senate voting on AB 98 imminent! Assembly Bill 98 is the last-minute attempt to impose stringent restrictions on warehouse development, choke the supply chain. We urge you to contact your representatives ASAP to ask them to oppose AB 98.

Attn: NAIOP SoCal Members & Friends in California Commercial Real Estate, This morning, the California State Senate Local Government Committee held a hearing on Assembly Bill 98, an eleventh-hour anti-warehousing bill, which passed in committee by a 4 - 2 vote. An overwhelming majority of public comments at the hearing were voiced in opposition to the bill. Without input from key industry stakeholders, lawmakers introduced AB 98, a sweeping, statewide bill that would effectively ban the development of logistics facilities and warehouses of all sizes, mandate new traffic patterns and truck routes, and impose 300- to 500-foot setbacks from loading bays to property lines, as well as 50- to 100-foot setbacks for buffering and screening. To date, hundreds and hundreds have taken action via NAIOP SoCal’s Action Alert system, and we thank those of you who have stepped up to email and call your State Senators. There are 3 days left in the current state legislative session. At some point over the next 24 hours, AB 98 will be heard on the Senate floor. We need YOUR CONTINUED HELP to defeat this bill!
