  • September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and providing support to those who may be struggling. It is essential to remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you find yourself in a difficult situation, do not hesitate to reach out for assistance. There are numerous resources available for individuals experiencing thoughts of suicide or emotional distress. One of the most important steps you can take is to talk to someone you trust, whether it be a friend, family member, or mental health professional. Hotlines such as 988 can provide immediate support and guidance to those in need. It is crucial to remember that you are not alone in your struggles. According to the World Health Organization, close to 800,000 people die due to suicide every year, making it a significant public health issue. By reaching out for help, you are taking a positive step towards improving your mental well-being and finding the support you need. During this month and beyond, let us come together as a community to break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage open conversations about seeking help. Remember, your mental health matters, and there is always support available to help you through difficult times. Take care of yourself and reach out if you need assistance. #988 #suicideprevention

  • #ThankfulThursday Thank you to Clifton White from Southside Kutz in San Angelo, TX and Carmen Gonzales from Heavenly Hair here in Midland for their donations of haircuts for our clients. Their selfless acts allowed our clients to start the new school year with a fresh look. These kind gestures exemplify the spirit of community service in a truly unique and impactful way. In today's society, where individualism often takes precedence, it is heartwarming to see individuals like Clifton White and Carmen Gonzales who prioritize serving others. Their dedication to helping our clients shows that community support comes in many forms, and a simple gesture like a haircut can have a significant impact on someone's life. We are grateful for their commitment to making a positive difference and inspiring others to do the same. #giveback #midlandtx #permainbasin

  • Amanda Edgmon, the President of the Board, is originally from the Dallas Area. She completed her education at Texas Tech, majoring in finance. After obtaining her degree, she relocated to Midland, TX, where she has resided for more than 15 years. Amanda is married to her high school sweetheart and is a proud parent of two children, aged 7 and 10. Amanda is the Treasurer at West Texas Gas. She was first introduced to the center by a friend who invited her to volunteer at Wine, Women and Shoes (MRCCAC’s annual fundraiser) several years ago. She continued to volunteer at the annual event and was later asked to join the board. Amanda says, "I enjoy serving on the board because I like seeing the positive impact MRCCAC is making in our community. I enjoy working alongside my fellow board members and the incredible staff to help bring awareness of the realities of sexual assault and child abuse in our area while also educating people on all the services the center provides to help victims in need."
