UPDATE: We are pleased to see the Canadian Government has moved to end the national rail stoppage. This is good news for Saskatchewan potash producers and farmers around the world. __________________________________________________________________________________ For the second consecutive summer, Canadian potash is piling up in warehouses instead of being placed in farmer’s fields because of supply chain work stoppages. It is time for bold action that demonstrates leadership, creates stability and renews the countries reputation as a reliable trading partner. We call on the Federal Government and all parties to get our supply chain moving before damages and disruptions grow even more.

Rail service in Canada is grinding to a halt in advance of the work stoppage this Thursday. Saskatchewan’s potash is already filling warehouses instead of vessels and farmer’s fields while our competitors in Russia and Belarus position their product to replace ours. We urge the Federal Government and all parties involved to urgently find a solution that avoids another devastating summer of supply chain disruptions in Canada.
-
Reliable and available rail and port access are essential for the potash industry and the millions of farmers around the world who rely on Canadian potash to grow their crops. Farmer’s do not have the luxury of waiting for their fertilizer. Planting season is a narrow window and product availability from whomever can supply it when it's needed is simply the reality for producers.

We are calling on all parties to take the necessary action to avoid rail and supply chain disruptions that will stop all Canadian potash from getting to market. The world cannot afford for key growing regions to produce less food because of unavailable Canadian fertilizer, or for those producers to have to depend on Russian or Belarusian options. Canada’s reputation and global food security are at risk.

Supply chain reliability in Canada is the country’s largest threat to economic growth and trade relations. Ensuring our exports can move is crucial for our national economy and millions of farmers worldwide who rely on sustainable and ethical potash. It will harm global food security if key growing regions produce less food because of unavailable Canadian fertilizer.
