Learn more by attending one of our monthly virtual Open Houses!   A Morrison Respite Care Provider gives parents and foster parents a respite break to support and maintain the current long-term placements of foster care youth 3-18 years of age. The children we serve are active in mental health therapy services and get referred by their therapist for respite care.    Our Planned and Crisis Respite Care program holds an Open House on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Hilda Ku signed up for Listos Para Aprender (Ready to Learn) when she was in the hospital with her first child. All four of her children participated in the early childhood program from Morrison Child and Family Services, which has received funding since the Portland Children's Levy started in 2002. Mayel Interian-Ku, Hilda’s eldest, graduated from Parkrose High School last year and is now a student at the University of Oregon. Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The holiday marks the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of slavery, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
