Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) student intern, Stella H., recently completed a 41-hour internship at Top Dog Daycare in Tumwater! Stella was a super star from the start of her internship all the way to the end. She dedicated 2 days a week to helping take care of up to 30 dogs a day. Stella was tasked with cleaning rooms, transitioning dogs to naptime, taking dogs outside to run out their zoomies, and of course picking up any accidents. Doggie daycares can often be a loud and chaotic environment, but this didn’t seem to bother Stella, she was in her element. Congratulations on completing your internship, Stella! We look forward to seeing what you’ll do next. #Morningside #preemploymenttransitionservices #paidinternship #careerexploration #Clientspotlight #MorningsidePartnership #promotingvisibility #disabilityadvocacy #disabilityinclusion #disabilityvisibility

Our Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) team would like to take this opportunity to recognize Carsen V. for recently completing a 42-hour internship at The Feed Bin in Rochester! During her internship, Carsen was in charge of dusting shelves, wiping down dust-covered products, and cleaning up the store as needed. During her internship, Carsen used her phone camera to photograph her work to avoid returning products to the wrong location. Staff reminded Carsen to use her tool, which allowed her to continue doing an excellent job during her internship. Carsen performed admirably during her internship thanks to the support and guidance of Pre-ETS Facilitator Diane, Feed Bin Manager Rachel, and Feed Bin Owner Dianna. Following a positive experience with Carsen, The Feed Bin is excited to host more internships in the future. We are thrilled to continue working with The Feed Bin and are grateful to have them as a community partner. #Morningside #preemploymenttransitionservices #paidinternship #careerexploration #Clientspotlight #MorningsidePartnership #promotingvisibility #disabilityadvocacy #disabilityinclusion #disabilityvisibility

Members of our Grays Harbor Pre-Employment Transition Team had the pleasure of attending Grays Harbor County Strategic Planning Meeting for Transition Services on August 15th. Stakeholders and Self Advocates from around the county came together to collaborate and create a vision for a positive possible future for transition students in Grays Harbor. Collaborators included Grays Harbor County, state agencies, school districts, The Arc of Grays Harbor, employment vendors, Pacific County, and Self Advocates. It was an inspiring day filled with shared visions, innovative ideas, and planning to better services for students. The group created objectives for the planning session, goals to accomplish throughout the year, identified challenges and obstacles, and identified how to identify success! Wise facilitated the event and created a visual board to show the visual representation of the game plan for the year! Grays Harbor Transition council will meet monthly for ongoing discussion of transition services in the county. Today is World Mental Health Day! This year's Global Campaign theme emphasizes the importance of mental health in the workplace. The campaign engages a global audience, including employees, employers, organizations, and stakeholders, to raise awareness about the need for mental health support in professional settings. Urgent action is needed to prevent risks and improve mental health at work, involving workers and those with lived experiences (NAMI, World Federation for Mental Health & World Health Organization (WHO)). Morningside understands the value of mental health and how mental illness can have a significant impact on the lives of both coworkers and clients. All of our employees have access to Mental Health First Aid training, which prepares them to enter the mental health conversation and provides them with useful resources and tools to use when interacting with people who may be living with a mental illnesses. Morningside also provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which includes counseling and other mental health services as part of its benefits because mental health care is considered healthcare. Although today is World Mental Health Day, we recognize that mental illness can be experienced on any given day for anyone.
