TLDR on QSRs: The uptick in meal deals aren't changing fast food's enduring pricey reputation.🤑🍟 "Hot deals aren't doing much yet to convince more people that fast food isn't expensive," writes Business Insider. "There's been almost no change in perceived value over the last few months as restaurants started launching their cheap eats, according to Morning Consult data." 🗞: https://lnkd.in/gQXK6QiK. 📊: https://lnkd.in/gKvm36Zq

Some travelers have had enough. With revenge travel over and pandemic savings depleted, travelers say they’re planning fewer trips this summer, or skipping their vacations altogether. “After two straight years of strong gains, the number of Americans planning to take leisure trips is taking a dip,” states a summer travel report from Deloitte Insights. Gen Zs and Millennials, especially, are spending less on airfare, hotels, sports events and music concerts, according to Morning Consult. #travel #demand #costs

A great use case for how Morning Consult surveys can be used as leading indicators of demand!
Microsoft ($MSFT) Earnings Hit 📣 Today we’re highlighting a specific use case that is challenging to tackle with most #altdata - as is often the case with B2B businesses - but where less traditional data like surveys can be the best leading indicator of sentiment shifts that might not be captured in other datasets for weeks. Morning Consult is an industry-leading survey research business that tracks sentiment for thousands of consumer & B2B brands across the globe. We’ve integrated several signals on Maiden Century that allow clients to track shifts in Purchase Intent, Brand Favorability, and Trust (among other factors) across tens of thousands of respondents. This unique data set can serve as a strong predictor of financial performance and currently ranks within the top 3 most accurate forecasts on the IDEA platform for 200+ tickers. We saw this in real time with Microsoft's recent report. $MSFT reported 2Q earnings yesterday after the close. While they beat slightly on the top and bottom line, the stock is down due to disappointing results in their Intelligent Cloud & Azure units. Morning Consult Purchase Intent data (which we lead by 15, 30, and 90 days into the future) has correctly called an Azure Revenue Beat versus Consensus over the past 6 quarters with a median error rate of less than 1%. Starting in April, we noticed a deceleration in Azure Purchase Intent that continued through the quarter. For the first time, our forecast for Morning Consult's data indicated a miss heading into the MSFT print - forecasting 29% YoY versus expectations (+31%) for Azure Revenue - which was ultimately directly in line with reported results. Perhaps more interesting, we’ve seen a steady decline in total Cloud Purchase Intent since April across providers, which may indicate a softening in the LLM-driven hype that’s permeated markets since last year. Only one thing is certain - to get ahead of any potential decline in Cloud Services demand, we'll be keeping a close eye on Morning Consult. Morning Consult economist Sofia Baig reveals how U.S. consumers are feeling about current interest rates ahead of the Fed's decision this afternoon— 💡 When asked about current level of interest rates, 68% of U.S. consumers said rates are too high. 💡 Among U.S. consumers who believe interest rates are too high, 75% have cut back on non essential spending while 63% reduced spending on essentials. 💡 Despite the Fed signaling one or more cuts in interest rates by the end of the year, more U.S. consumers believe that interest rates will be higher at this point next year (34%) than lower (25%).
