The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) is a regional educational service agency that provides a vast array of effective and efficient services that meet the educational and social service needs of Montgomery County’s 200-plus schools, including the 22 public school districts, more than 150 nonpublic schools, four career-technical schools, three charter schools, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Services are provided through nine offices: Business Services; Community and Government Relations; Executive Director; Early Childhood Services; Human Resources; Professional Learning; PaTTAN; Technology Services; Student Services.     Last week, our Office of Organizational & Professional Learning had the privilege of hosting an in-person Induction Mentor Academy for Instructional Staff at our Norristown headquarters. It was an incredible day of growth and collaboration, where our dedicated mentors honed their skills and embraced new perspectives. From deepening the power of relationships to practicing thoughtful reflection, our mentors walked away with fresh insights and a renewed commitment to guiding the next generation of educators. Mentors are instrumental in supporting emerging educators as they navigate their career paths and develop effective teaching strategies.     This week, our Office of Student Services hosted two vital workshops on ADHD Assessment and Recognizing Less Obvious Presentations of Autism. These sessions marked an important step toward fostering a more inclusive and understanding community, and included key takeaways about: ❤️ ADHD Assessments: We explored the critical role of accurate assessments, discussing the tools and strategies that can help identify ADHD symptoms early on. ❤️ Recognizing Autism: Our experts provided valuable insights on how autism can present differently across age groups, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and awareness of less typical signs.
