ATTN: Monterey County wineries...and our friends at wineries from throughout California...remember to complete the Silicon Valley Bank DtC Survey. There are only a few days left to participate. In completing the survey, you receive anonymized data that can help inform your winery's success strategy.
Every year, the #SVBWine Division’s DtC Survey helps benchmark the industry’s tasting rooms, wine clubs and other direct-to-consumer sales activity. If you work in the #wine world, take a few minutes to share your thoughts: https://lnkd.in/gafBYMgH Rob McMillan

We're thrilled to see Rustique Wines and Monterey Wine Country gaining recognition in the New York Times. In Monterey Wine Country, you'll find that tasting fees are not only reasonable (between $20 - $35) but also provide exceptional value. Many wineries waive these fees with wine purchases or upon joining their wine clubs. It's a testament to the incredible experiences awaiting wine enthusiasts in our region. Cheers to Monterey Wine Country's well-deserved spotlight! "The drive to my last stop — Monterey’s vineyards — took me through the agricultural flats surrounding Salinas, which grows 70 percent of the nation’s salad greens, some 20 miles to the Salinas Valley, which nurtures pinot noir and chardonnay grapes in the foothills of the Santa Lucia range. Attracted by vintage tractors, I turned into the family-owned Rustiqué Wines and found its convivial tasting room lodged in a former dairy barn filled not with hushed aficionados swirling and evaluating wine, but with a sociable crowd enjoying glasses of estate pinot noir and oaked chardonnay in the spirit of happy hours everywhere." https://lnkd.in/eaqKsG3C Wine Institute California Association of Winegrape Growers See Monterey

Our young Monterey County wine industry leaders in action. Thanks for protecting our vines' new growth!
🍇 👍 The phenological stages of latent bud development in grapevines have been described for a very long time, so there's nothing new under the sun! 👇 The attached photos (from (a) to (e)) show the very first stages of development from the bud in cotton wool to the "green tip" stage. It's from these very early stages (and certainly afterwards) that grapevines are sensitive to spring frost. 😭 Of course, positive air temperatures are important for bud and primary shoot development (this is the concept of phyllochron), as well as the water and nitrogen status of the vines, so soil moisture content at the root system level is crucial pre- and post-budburst. In this regard, if the soils are dry and irrigation is possible, it is advisable to start irrigating before budburst and during budburst to maintain the roots in a certain level of water comfort. Unfortunately, negative air temperatures from stages (b) to (e) can cause significant damage and destroy all or part of the primordia in the buds and/or developing young shoots. In this regard, the humidity level in the buds and in the air can promote freezing of the affected organs. ❄ In short, let's wish all vineyards a happy development as shown in photo (h)! 🤞

🍇✨ Exciting news from Monterey Wine Country! 🌱 Our vineyards are coming to life with bud break, marking the start of the 2024 vintage cycle. After a winter of storing energy, our vines are bursting with new growth, pushing out their first green leaves. This year, bud break arrived 5 - 10 days early, thanks to the warm, wet winter. Cheers to another promising vintage ahead! 🍷 #MontereyWines #BudBreak2024 #NewBeginnings #CAWines @SeeMonterey
