Six months ago, Moms First set off on a clear mission to do something that had never been done before: elevate child care in the national conversation and secure commitments from both presidential candidates that they would pass affordable child care. So many women have been fighting for child care for decades, and we are so grateful for their advocacy. But time and time again, child care has fallen out of the spotlight, leaving moms to pick up the pieces and struggle with the financial and mental costs of child care alone. This time had to be different. Moms can’t afford to wait around any longer. So Moms First put together a plan to make child care impossible to ignore. And it worked. We got a question asked about child care at the first presidential debate. We set off a viral news cycle after asking President Trump about child care at a major economic address. (Shout out Reshma Saujani for asking the question heard around the world!) We mobilized thousands of moms across the country to share their child care stories. And, last night, the vice presidential candidates spent nearly 8 minutes debating solutions to our child care crisis on the national stage. On the morning shows and late night shows, in every news outlet, on the presidential campaigns — everyone has been debating about how to fix the child care crisis. From The Daily Show to CNN, and The New York Times to USA TODAY — child care is finally getting the national attention it deserves. Before we started this campaign, no one had released any child care plans or made any child care commitments. Now, both presidential candidates and their running mates have openly committed to tackle the child care crisis. When Moms First says we're leading the fight for America's moms, we mean it. And we are so proud to be in this fight with each and every one of you. We've never been more certain that moms really do get sh*t done.

Of course moms would be the ones to *finally* get the answers we need on child care! Tonight at the vice presidential debate, CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan (both moms!) asked JD Vance & Tim Walz not one, not two, not three, but FOUR questions about how they plan to solve the child care crisis in America. And the VP candidates spent nearly 8 minutes debating how to make child care more affordable and accessible for working families. This is a monumental victory for moms everywhere. Not only has child care been elevated to the national stage, but for the first time, we are actually getting the real, substantial policies we deserve. And tonight, both Democrats and Republicans agreed that families need solutions, and they’re ready to bring those solutions to life. Child care is *the* issue of the 2024 election. And that’s because of moms. We are so proud to be in this fight with you. There’s truly nothing moms can’t do.

Letters to the editor (LTE) are a simple, yet powerful way to make your voice heard. Candidates keep a close eye on the local news, so a LTE is basically a personal note delivered directly to candidates’ desks. Moms across the country are sharing their child care stories in letters to the editor of their local papers. Ensure child care is the priority list for candidates in YOUR community by writing a letter to the editor. Download our LTE toolkit here — we've made it super easy to draft a letter of your own: https://lnkd.in/eWdVAYh8 Need some extra help? Join us Monday 9/30 at 1:30PM for our Letter Power Hour. Together, we can get child care on the record up and down the ballot. RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/ejqf6PQr

Moms often overachieve and outperform not because of the conditions of their employment but in spite of them. Moms make up the gap between what’s needed and what’s offered, and they do so while elevating their teams, boosting workplace cultures and delivering real results – all while keeping the world turning at home. In our new report, Productive, Purposeful, and Profitable: How Hiring Moms Gives Companies a Competitive Edge, we worked with Etsy and Moms First to deliver compelling data on moms' value and the return on investment for businesses who hire them. Join us on Tuesday, October 8, as we talk with Penny Queller, Marissa Comart (she/her), and Molly Day about the true impact of moms in our workforce and how companies can unlock the power of Mom to reach their business goals. ⤵

🌟 It's been a *big* week for Moms First! Yesterday, on stage at the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, our founder and CEO Reshma Saujani announced the national expansion of Paidleave.ai, our groundbreaking generative AI tool to increase paid family leave adoption. 🤝 Made possible with support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies, Capital One, and Robin Hood — and with early technical assistance and partnership from OpenAI and Novy — the first of its kind generative AI tool helps working families access unclaimed state paid family leave benefits. 🤰🏻 Decades of research shows that paid family leave programs can be a powerful driver of economic growth and improved maternal and child health outcomes. And, as national paid family leave has stalled, states have taken up the gauntlet. 💰 Nine states and Washington, DC have live paid family leave programs, with four more states beginning to pay benefits in the next few years. 💸 While these programs are broadly popular, they’re severely underutilized with fewer than 5% (!) of eligible workers claiming their paid family leave benefits due to low awareness and complicated application processes. In other words, parents are leaving money on the table. 🗽That’s why Moms First launched Paidleave.ai as a pilot in New York back in Dec 2023 — to prove that generative AI can not only make government more accessible but also boost benefit access for working families. ⚡️️ The NY pilot was wildly successful and showed the potential for AI to boost paid family leave adoption and grow a national movement in favor of these policies. The pilot also firmed up something we at Moms First already knew: moms care about this issue and they need innovative solutions to tackle it. 📲 Be sure to check out Paidleave.ai and read the full press release about this expansion: https://lnkd.in/dFSYW46Z
