    In September, Amazon US saw a 6% year-over-year growth in search volume. Patio, Lawn & Garden (+15.1%), Grocery & Gourmet Food (+14.7%), and Automotive (+14.6%) categories saw the largest YoY search volume gains For the first time in two months, Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry saw a year-over-year increase in search volume.     Here are some quick stats to wrap up your week: 1. PBDD 2024 generated +42% more sales compared to PBDD 2023 among the same client set. 2. However, PBDD 2024 sales were still 32% lower than July's Prime Day figures. 3. Sales during the Fall Prime Day saw a remarkable increase of +162% compared to an average Tuesday or Wednesday in 2024. These numbers indicate that Prime Big Deal Days are here to stay. Amazon made a significant effort to promote the event this year and implemented stricter criteria for the depth of deals required to earn the 'deal badge.'     This Prime Big Deal Days saw overall sales increase by 42% YoY compared to PBDD 2023, based on the same set of clients. A few key trends stood out during this sales event: - Amazon’s heightened promotion likely contributed to a stronger Day 2. While Day 1 has historically outpaced Day 2 by a wide margin, this year the gap narrowed slightly – a pattern we also noticed during July’s Prime Day. -We also observed a shift in 'peak' shopping hours toward 6 PM ET. Although we saw hints of this during PBDD 2023 and July’s Prime Day, this event confirms that the evening peak is a trend to monitor and plan for, as it contrasts with the traditional 'doorbuster' morning rush.     Prime Big Deal Days: Final Day 2 Update As of 12 PM PT, sales continue to trend upward with a 41% increase YoY compared to PBDD 2023. In 2023, Day 2 started slower, with sales during the first 12 hours coming in 22% below the same timeframe on Day 1. However, in 2024, the gap has narrowed slightly. The first 12 hours of Day 2 are tracking just 19% below the first half of Day 1, indicating more consistent engagement across the event this year. We'll be watching closely to see how the evening progresses. Will we see a surge in last-minute purchases, or will sales start to taper off?
