A beautiful new website for one of the fastest-growing local breweries you say? We got you. Mithril Media, in partnership with our friends at Cali BBQ Media, recently had the opportunity to build a brand new website for NOVO Brazil Brewing Co. and NOVA Kombucha. And we must say, it is one of our best to date. This website is a perfect example of why taking the time to really build a brand identity is so important. Novo/Nova came ready to play with a wide assortment of beautiful brand assets that made this website such a treat to build. From their iconic beer and kombucha labels to their dedication to high-quality images and video, the foundation for a beautiful website was there for the taking. We designed every aspect of the website to be in lock-step with their brand identity, giving a cohesive experience whether you are at one of their 5 San Diego locations, buying a 6 pack from the local liquor store or cruising their new website. We are so proud of this one and I am so grateful to the folks that were a part of this project. Thank you to the whole team at Novo for trusting us to be a part of your story. Shawn P. Raising good humans > everything else.

This past week my 17-year-old son attended the Youth Citizenship Seminar at Pepperdine University. He stayed on campus all week, lived the full college experience, and had an incredible time making new friends, learning new things, developing new skills and growing as a person. The jury is still out on whether or not college is something he wants to pursue. He has been taking online WordPress and website development courses because he "wants to learn what I do" - which is about the coolest compliment I can receive. We've had lots of conversations about keeping every door open and never closing yourself off to an opportunity too soon. What that means for him is still to be decided. I guess my reason for sharing all of this is that I am excited for him. Whether Mithril Media becomes a family business that he takes over one day or he decides he hates it and wants to do something completely different, I know he is going to do great things. Getting to be his dad is one of my life's greatest joys and I really can't wait to see where the world takes him next. We've got one more year of high school and a whole lifetime ahead. It's been an emotional realization that this chapter is coming to a close but the next one is going to be so magical. Here's to my fellow dads out there doing their best to raise good humans who will go on to change the world.

In the last 3 years, UNFILTERED WITH KIRAN has become a go-to trusted news source for the people of Southern Louisiana. Through honest and dedicated reporting, Kiran and her team have amassed a vast and loyal base of followers. Over the last several months, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of partnering with Kiran Chawla and her team as we reimagined what the Unfiltered with Kiran website could be. We worked together to strategically design and develop a new website that would bring a better overall experience and create a destination for folks to find the news in their local communities. A few of the highlights I am particularly keen on: 📲 Integrated Vertical Video Player: We created a direct connection to the Unfiltered with Kiran YouTube channel, ensuring that all of the latest news and videos makes it to the homepage right away. 📍 Interactive Location Map & Filtering: Local news matters so much and providing an intuitive UX for users to discover what's going on in their area is so important. We built a custom interactive map that allows users to get to the news in their area with a single click. 📈 Massive performance improvements: We were able to drop website load times from 4.5 seconds to 1.7 seconds which is a 62% improvement. MASSIVELY important for any website, but especially so for news websites. We're incredibly proud of the way this website has turned out and we're so excited to see it fuel continued growth for the whole team at UWK. Here's a short video courtesy of the team at Unfiltered discussing some of the work that went into this entire process. Be sure to stop by and check it out at unfilteredwithkiran.com! And thank you to the entire team at Unfiltered with Kiran for allowing us to be a part of your story!

Our latest project! So stoked on how this one for our friends over at Sombrero Mexican Food turned out.

As a San Diego-based business owner and a native San Diegan, getting to work with iconic local brands is one of the highlights of my career. Most recently, this meant designing and building a new website for Sombrero Mexican Food. If you've spent any time in San Diego, you have probably at the very least heard of Sombrero, if not eaten there yourself. They are pioneers of San Diego-style Mexican Food (something we natives take pretty seriously around these parts) and were famously featured in the blink-182 song, Josie ("...She brings me Mexican food from Sombrero just because..."). We are thrilled with how this one turned out and honored to be a part of the Sombrero story forever. A few highlights that I'm particularly keen on: ➡️ Fully customized CMS that powers a NATIVE menu experience, giving users a familiar app-like feel on mobile (think DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc) ➡️ Dedicated landing pages for all 16 Sombrero Locations, providing a huge boost to local SEO ➡️ Location finder that uses the end-users current location or address input to determine the closest Sombrero location ➡️ Overall tasty UI/UX. Working with my design partner Michael Ian Roche to bring this one to life using assets and creative provided by Rising Tides Creative, we took an already strong brand identity and gave it new life. A strong focus on thoughtful interaction design and strategic data architecture made this one stand out. Thank you to the whole team at SOMBRERO MEXICAN FOOD for letting Mithril Media be a part of your story. We are excited about our continued partnership and can't wait to see what's next! https://sombreromex.com/ #webdesign #localbusiness #supportlocal #sandiegonative #webdesigner #uiux #mobilefirst #restaurants #digitalhospitality #webdev

Craveworthy has added two iconic brands to its restaurant family: taim mediterranean kitchen and Hot Chicken Takeover! Taim, a NYC-based Mediterranean cuisine founded in 2005 by double Food Network Champion and Chef Einat Admony, is known for its market-fresh ingredients and operates 13 restaurants across New York and Washington D.C. HCT is a Nashville-hot chicken joint with a cult-following and a mission-driven approach to hiring, boasting seven locations in Central Ohio and two stadium spots in Columbus. Under the Craveworthy umbrella, taim will join forces with Soom Soom its trendy, West Coast concept partnered with food-tech figure, C3. This seamless integration will expand the reach of both brands, offering bold Mediterranean flavors from coast to coast. Additionally, HCT's locations will be transformed into a fresh hot chicken concept with Craveworthy's The Budlong Southern Chicken. This acquisition underscores our dedication to offering unparalleled dining experiences across diverse fast casual spaces and places our company as a leader in the healthy Mediterranean and popular chicken segments. #RestaurantAcquisition #MediterraneanCuisine #HotChickenConcept #FoodIndustry #CraveworthyBrands

Aaron David Roberts and his team did some incredible work here. So stoked for you guys to be launching this new series and can't wait to see where it leads. Congrats on the huge accomplishment!

15 year old Aaron would have probably lost his mind if you told him about yesterday - sharing a stage with Frank Turner during the Q&A for our docuseries premiere. There's a moment in our doc where Frank comments on how his 15 year old head would have exploded if he had know he would be hanging out with some of his musical heroes on the 50/50 tour, people who are now his peers. And the 15 year old kid who watched an English Folk/Punk singer destroy a crowd opening for Social Distortion and is now 30 still has moments of extreme gratitude and disbelief. Frank's music spoke to me in such a unique way. He's one of the most honest songwriters I have ever heard. And the song on this post was an anthem I'd scream sing in the car on repeat. "If ever I stray from the path I follow, Take me down to the English Channel, Throw me in where the water is shallow, And drag me on back to shore." I've been working my ass off building the life and career I want to have the last decade, and to have this project be the first one I have ever officially sold will always mean so much to me. Seems perfect, actually. And to be considered a friend and peer by someone who was one of my musical heroes and inspirations to not only pick up a guitar and start writing, but more importantly, follow my dreams and passions relentlessly. Thanks for the opportunity Frank, it's been an absolute pleasure, and I am so thankful to be a part of the Xtra Mile family and call you all friends. 7 Continents in 7 Days next? 😉 And go watch episodes 1 & 2 on Veeps!

🎧 3 podcast episodes we loved this week 1️⃣ Ellen Lupton: Thinking with Type (Design Better Podcast) Ellen Lupton discusses the latest edition of “Thinking With Type” which has become a staple in the designers bookshelf. From fundamentals to practical benefits of typeface for non-designers, this is a fun episode about every designers favorite topic. 2️⃣ Jonathan Haidt on Adjusting to Smartphones and Social Media (Conversations with Tyler) In his book "The Anxious Generation," Jonathan Haidt examines the rise in teen mental illness, linking it to a shift from traditional play-based activities to a reliance on smartphones around the early 2010s. He argues that these changes could exacerbate mental health issues unless society adopts new norms and more stringent regulations on social media. 3️⃣ How to be Productive Without Burning Out (RE:Thinking with Adam Grant) Adam Grant sits down with Cal Newport to discuss Cal’s new book “Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout”. This conversation offers great insights on productivity and the benefits of doing more by doing less. Listen to each of these episodes and check out our key takeaways in the link below! #podcast #blogpost #typeface #burnout #socialmedia
