Earlier this month, the MEC Sprint brought together some of the brightest student founders from across campuses, and the energy was nothing short of electrifying! Over 36 hours, teams transformed raw ideas into fully developed solutions, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in such a short time. We were delighted to see so many people come together for a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit! We had two tracks—our Main Track and Pre-Idea Track. Huge congratulations to our winning teams, Curiate and MechAI! 1st place in each track will move forward as finalists for Xfund’s Xperiment Stake and are set to pitch to Patrick S. Chung. Additionally, our 2nd and 3rd place teams will receive office hours with top industry mentors like Neo’s Ali Partovi, EWOR’s Daniel W. Dippold, or even a Z Fellows interview! Across the board, we saw incredible solutions tackling major challenges in healthcare, sustainability, and education. From AI-powered tools to revolutionize personalized learning, to tech making healthcare more accessible, every pitch was filled with passion and innovation. A huge thank you to Tuan Ho from XFund, Naysawn Naji, Shen Shen from MIT, the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, Red Bull, and everyone who helped make this event possible. To all the participants—this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see what you do next! #MECsprint #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #MITStartups #Curiate #MechAI #Hackathon #MIT

In case you missed it, earlier this semester we capped off our 2nd StartHouse cohort with our first Demo Day. We had pitches from companies in EdTech, AI, Space Tech, and Consumer Tech. They shared what they were building, their progress and traction, and plans for the future. It was amazing and inspiring to hear how much all of these companies achieved in a short amount of time! To stay up to date with these teams and other startups coming out of MEC, follow us on LinkedIn or go to our website: mec.mit.edu

Last Saturday MEC—MIT Entrepreneurship Club in partnership with Telora held the Startup Time Machine – the conference where students all over the country came to learn from experienced founders. Students were able to talk to amazing founders: Amjad Masad, Alex Bouaziz, Deepak Chhugani, Nick Damiano, Naysawn Naji, Will Cao, Leandra T., Matthew Rajcok, Matt Tengtrakool, and ethan thornton about starting the startup, defining the problem to solve, talking to customers, finding the right co-founder and the things they wish they knew in the beginning of their journey. Thanks to Eliam Medina, Angie Diaz Medina, Kris Borer, and the Telora team for helping organize this incredible event! Thanks to all the interviewers for their preparation and speakers for sharing their experience!

Thanks for inviting me to speak on Blitzscaling a Startup, Bayo Okusanya! You were an amazing host. I appreciate the opportunity to share my journey to MIT and experiences in MEC—MIT Entrepreneurship Club with your audience. Check out our conversation below.
Saniya Karwa is the vice president of MIT's Entrepreneurship Club, which is the undergraduate community of founders at MIT. She is passionate about using technology to make a positive impact on people's lives. Saniya believes that both entrepreneurship and AI offer the most promising paths toward achieving this goal. Throughout her career, she has focused on various projects involving AI and its applications. Some of these include using machine learning for diagnosis in predictive medicine, training neural networks to enhance customers' experience with AI-powered hearing aids, and improving child speech recognition in social robots used for education. Currently, Saniya is working on leveraging the power of LLMs and embeddings to develop a navigable map of knowledge, essentially creating a digital human brain.
