Today, we’re partnering with Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR) in North Carolina, a station partner who’s remained on-air following widespread devastation from Hurricane Helene. Blue Ridge Public Radio is providing urgent, factual information to their local community and to station partners like us tracking the news from afar. At MPR, we believe in public media for the public good. When a crisis hits close to home or afar, we’re here with news, music and information – free of paywalls. This kind of independent media provides facts, dispels disinformation, and creates connection and comfort when it matters most. Today, donate to MPR and power essential public media right here in Minnesota. When you do, MPR will chip in $10 to Blue Ridge Public Radio’s disaster recovery and reporting fund. 📞1-800-227-2811 💻 https://lnkd.in/gzFXBSaB

Over a week in late June, MPR News held Radio Camp, where campers explored the jobs behind the scenes at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul. Radio Campers learned to prepare for and conduct one-on-one interviews. They recorded the interviews themselves, selected quotes and wrote scripts. They then recorded narration and produced the pieces. It’s the same general process used by MPR News radio reporters. Radio Camp is held at MPR, with leadership and mentors coming mostly from the news department. Partners ThreeSixty Journalism, KRSM Radio and MIGIZI filled the crucial role of recruiting and selecting the students. You can read about each camper and listen to their news pieces here: https://lnkd.in/gE6YqYd4
