Innovation for under and unemployment for individuals on the autism spectrum. Creating business value while doing good.

About us

Mind Shift is an innovative social business providing meaningful, sustainable careers for adults on the autism spectrum by shifting the social and employer perspective on ability. We are emphasizing the cognitive strengths of people on the autism spectrum - extreme focus, detail-orientation, and eye for deviation - to create a workforce suited to repetitive, detailed-jobs that are critical to business success. These characteristics, combined with higher than average intelligence, and a strong desire to work, make them uniquely suited in highly specialized jobs in technology, analytics and more. With on-going support, our "Specialists" access their strengths and find their place in society! Businesses get access to loyal, focused staff to fill crucial jobs. Our original office was proudly founded in Fargo, ND in 2013.

We are committed to creating inclusive pathways that empower individuals on the autism spectrum and other neurodiverse populations to thrive in their careers. Autism affects about 1 in 100 children globally, with signs often appearing in early childhood, though diagnosis may not occur until much later. This underscores the importance of creating inclusive employment opportunities that acknowledge and utilize the unique strengths of individuals with autism, enabling them to contribute significantly to both the workforce and society. #MindShift #autism #neurodiversity #diversityandinclusion

Hiring neurodiverse individuals isn’t just about meeting diversity goals—it’s about recognizing the unique strengths they bring to the table. Neurodiverse employees often excel in problem-solving, attention to detail, and innovative thinking, which can drive your business to new levels of success. When businesses embrace neurodiversity, they tap into a pool of talent that can make their operations more efficient, creative, and competitive. It's not just the right thing to do; it’s a smart business decision. #Mindshift #autism #neurodiversity #inclusionandhiring

We are thrilled to introduce one of our newest team members at Mind Shift, whose journey is as inspiring as it is dedicated to our mission. Born and raised in the Twin Cities metro area, he joined the Navy right out of high school, serving for 14 years as an Aviation Ordnance man on active duty and planning to continue his service with 6 more years in the Navy Reserves. Throughout his military career, he lived in various parts of the country, including San Diego, CA, Fallon, NV, and Jacksonville, FL. Despite his busy career, he has always found time to enjoy his hobbies and interests, which include fishing, playing drums, reading, watching sports (especially UFC, football, and hockey), and playing video games. However, his greatest joy comes from spending quality time with his family. Married to his high school sweetheart, they share their lives with two wonderful children, two cats, and a dog. His commitment to family and his deep understanding of neurodiversity, having two autistic children himself, fuel his passion for Mind Shift's mission. He knows firsthand the incredible value that neurodivergent individuals bring to the world and is excited to contribute to creating opportunities for them. At Mind Shift, he is eager to do his part in opening doors for the neurodivergent community, helping to shape a future where everyone’s unique strengths are recognized and celebrated. We are honored to have such a dedicated advocate on our team! #MindShift #Autism #Neurodiversity #newemployee

On August 14th, Mind Shift had the honor of participating in the University of California, Irvine Division of Continuing Education Accelerated Certificate Program (ACP) Employer Appreciation Event. This gathering marked a significant milestone in our ongoing collaboration with UCI DCE, which began earlier this year with the shared goal of providing valuable internship opportunities to ACP students. The event provided an excellent platform for us to connect with UCI DCE staff, fellow employer partners, and most importantly, the talented ACP students. We were impressed by the students' enthusiasm, skills, and eagerness to learn about the American work culture. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to UCI DCE for their trust and partnership. Special thanks to the UCI Dean of Continuing Education, Kristine M Collins, the Internship Manager, https://lnkd.in/gmNC-mGS, Irvine Division of Continuing Education , and UC Irvine Career Services Manager, Amy Gleason, M.A. Services Manager -, M.A., for their support and vision. #MindShift #neurodiversity #universityofcalifornia #autism
