We are so proud to be part of this literacy program, which is designed to be implemented in areas with high levels of youth struggling to meet grade-level standards in reading and math. In California alone, over 50% of children are currently falling behind, and over 70% are lagging in math. This is a serious issue. Without proper reading skills, children cannot comprehend effectively, and without comprehension, they lack the ability to make sound judgments. This often leads to chaotic neighborhoods and low self-esteem among children. As a result, they may feel the need to act out around their peers, losing their sense of identity. These children can grow up to face dire consequences, including incarceration or even death, all due to a lack of basic comprehension and reading skills. I am incredibly proud to be part of this program and to witness its expansion into every corner, both domestically and internationally. This is an ambitious initiative, and I can’t wait to see how it changes the narrative.
