How This Community Empowers Black Parent Entrepreneurs to Build a Lasting Legacy for Their Children The ParentPreneur Foundation launched in June 2020 and has grown to over paid community providing Black parent entrepreneurs with grants, resources, webinars, and more. Founder James Oliver Jr. was juggling a new business and newborn twins.  This inspired him to support fellow Black “ParentPreneurs” who face similar challenges. James’ vision: “We’re not the Gates Foundation, but we can give away $1,000 to these ParentPreneurs to help their businesses succeed and leave a legacy for their children.” James built his first business, WeMontage, in 2012 while managing early parenthood.  The experience was a wake-up call to the unique pressures of being a ParentPreneur. After weathering those early struggles, James published his journey in a book, “The More You Hustle, The Luckier You Get: You CAN Be a Successful Parentpreneur,” sparking the idea for a foundation. When Covid hit, James seized the moment, deciding to launch his foundation sooner rather than later.  “Within every crisis exists opportunity.” So what was the tipping point? The racial injustices of 2020.  James shifted the foundation's focus exclusively to Black ParentPreneurs, aiming to close the wealth gap and empower his community. Backed by a $50,000 seed grant from VC Brad Feld, the ParentPreneur Foundation was born, offering money, tools, and resources to help Black ParentPreneurs thrive. The foundation partners with successful entrepreneurs to provide grants, therapy, webinars, and more.  “We’re the place for Black people to be seen, felt, and heard as ParentPreneurs.” From marketing tips with Seth Godin to e-commerce strategies with Pamela Booker, the community offers valuable insights to help members grow personally and professionally. Since launching, the foundation has awarded thousands in grants.  The goal is to support 100 ParentPreneurs a year with $10,000 each and grow the community to even more members.  For James, it’s about legacy.  “I see you. I feel you. Here’s something to help your business succeed so you can leave a legacy for your beautiful Black children.” Charging headfirst into the future, the ParentPreneur Foundation is just getting started.

Whatever it is, make it a PRACTICE. — Take away distractions and focus-in on what you want to bring about in the world. Do it daily. Do it for 30 days. See what happens. — The good news is, while it takes consistent time and focus, you can turn your purpose into a practice  When you do, it’s impossible to quantify the impact that your purpose will bring about in the world.
