  • We are so proud of Megan and are thrilled to support her on her DNP/FNP journey. Congrats, Megan!

We are excited to introduce our Doctorate Scholarship Winner, Megan Harbert, a DNP-FNP student at Messiah University! Megan is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and is a Penn State Health Magnet Champion. Megan considers nursing more than a career choice - it is a calling. "I am deeply honored and grateful to be a one of the 2024 DNP Nightingale scholarship award recipients. This recognition is truly humbling and inspires me to further my dedication to the nursing profession. This scholarship will provide me the means to complete my final semester of the DNP-FNP program at Messiah University and allow me to prepare for my future as an advanced practice nurse. My hope is to continue improving the nursing profession through compassion, empathy, and dedication to evidence based practice. Thank you for your generous support and belief in my abilities. I am committed to making a positive impact on the lives of my patients and the healthcare community." Congratulations on your scholarship, Megan! We are so excited to see the difference you will make to families in the Harrisburg area and beyond! #excellenceinnursing #nightingaleawards #nursingscholarships

  • Graduate commencement is almost here, and we are so excited to celebrate our grads! Molly Scarlato, one of our graduating students in the DNP – Nursing Leadership program, shares more about her experience below: Q: What has been a highlight/favorite memory during the program for you? A: A highlight of the program was implementing my DNP project, an interprofessional simulation, within a nurse residency program. I enjoyed collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurse educators to make this experience a reality. I also got married during the program (right before implementation)! Although it was challenging, my professors and husband were completely supportive and guided me along the way! Q: Future plans upon graduation: A: I am working as a nurse educator at a pre-licensure, baccalaureate institution. Not only will I teach in the classroom, but I will have the opportunity to work more in the simulation space. Q: Advice you would share with current students in the program: A: Ensure you have a problem that your project site needs to address. Meet with many people in the institution and listen intently to what they need. What you think you want to implement may not be what the institution needs, so flexibility and an open mind is important! Thank you for sharing, Molly!

  • Graduate commencement is almost here, and we are so excited to celebrate our grads! Kate Jones, one of our graduating students in the DNP – Nursing Leadership program, shares more about her experience below: Q: What has been a highlight/favorite memory during the program for you? A: Having a remote program makes it difficult to create the "memories" that I would have been able to spout off from undergrad quickly. Some highlights have been watching my quality improvement project come to life, the ease of balancing the program between work and family life, and finishing my educational journey back at Messiah University. Q: Future plans upon graduation? A: I'm going to Hawaii and will bask in the fact that I have completed my terminal nursing degree! In all seriousness, though, I would like to continue growing in nursing leadership and eventually advance to the role of Chief Nursing Officer. Q: Advice you would share with current students in the program? A: Take it one assignment at a time, one class at a time, one semester at a time. Also, the nursing faculty is always available to help you solve problems, listen to your fears, and provide feedback. While you might be remote, you are never alone. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, Kate!
