Raw innovation isn't enough. The most impactful founders are those who can navigate the complex interplay of markets, politics, and human nature. Announcing the next iteration in an experiment to cultivate "philosopher-entrepreneurs." Think Reid Hoffman's strategic brilliance, Patrick Collison's intellectual voraciousness, or Marc Andreessen's contrarian insights. These aren't just entrepreneurs; they're modern-day polymaths. I've experienced the transformation philosophy can bring in my own life. A curated reading list didn't just expand my knowledge. It fundamentally altered how I perceive and interact with the world. It made me more interesting to myself. When we think of philosophy or normative political economy, we think of "bespectacled academics sitting in an armchair with a book and pipe." Mill Fellows are thinkers and builders wrapped in one. Feedback from our first cohort was overwhelmingly positive. It not only fostered new perspectives, but also new collaborations. For example, the collaboration on innovative IP frameworks between Mill Fellows Jason Zhao and Peter Wang. After meeting Tyler Cowen years ago, I jumped as both a fellow and co-creator with Virgil Storr at Mercatus Center at George Mason University, building on a fellowship model Brian Hooks helped pioneer during his time there. And Cosmos Institute is thrilled to be able to support this program going forward. Spread the word--and reach out if you're interested in the next cohort or to nominate someone! And can't wait to see where the impact *on* and *by* this superb new class of Mill Fellows: Brett Bivens Jordan Blashek Kate Kavanaugh Miles Fisher Kevin Fishner Hari Sundram Lisa Wallace David Calder Chris Goulakos Andrew Kelley Valentina Milanova 🇺🇦 Anastasia Uglova
Today, we are excited to welcome our second class of fellows participating in the John Stuart Mill Fellowship–a one-year program for entrepreneurs to study the philosophical underpinnings of big ideas relating to markets, politics, and society. Mill Fellows come together three times throughout the year to participate in colloquia, exploring key ideas that continue to influence contemporary policy debates and societal development. The fellowship was developed with support from Brendan McCord, the Mercatus Center’s first Entrepreneur in Residence, a member of the inaugural Mill class, and founder of the Cosmos Institute, along with Virgil Storr, Vice President of Academic and Student Programs at Mercatus. Please join us in welcoming our second class of Mill Fellows! https://lnkd.in/enDhJPCn
