About us
Mental Health Association Oklahoma, formerly known as Mental Health Association in Tulsa, is an advocacy voice representing people affected by mental illness, homelessness and substance abuse. Since 1955, we have spoken as an independent source to mental health and substance abuse providers, social service agencies, schools regarding the provision of high quality mental health screening and treatment in the community. Our current programs include mental health education to schools, businesses, and the broader community, mental health advocacy addressing prejudice and discrimination directed toward people living in recovery with mental illness, support groups, pro bono counseling, referral and assistance to people experiencing mental health needs, mental health screening, suicide prevention, and crisis response to schools. We also provide peer-to-peer recovery counseling, transitional employment, and housing and support services for people affected by substance abuse, mental illness, release from incarceration and homelessness. These programs all start with advocacy for the people we serve.

For Suicide Prevention month, MHAOK's Youth Mental Health Program is on the move to present mental wellness education and suicide prevention education to Oklahoma schools. Dr. Cheryl Delk was recently at Cristo Rey High School presenting "It's Real: Teens and Mental Health" which was created by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Remember, conversations are critical and mental health matters. #suicideprevention #youthmentalhealth #mhaok #housinghealingwholeness

We are so excited to announce that our OKC office moved locations! Though the move was only a few blocks away geographically, it will propel us miles forward. This isn’t just about a change of scenery; it’s an exciting opportunity for us to strengthen our team and make our operations even more efficient so we can better serve the community. Our relocation to 915 North Robinson Avenue in OKC is about about bringing our team closer, creating a space that truly reflects our mission, and finding new ways to be both cost-effective and impactful.

We are days away from Suicide Prevention Month, and we are thrilled to be partnering with @metrolibraryok to offer a free suicide prevention training at the Capitol Hill location on Thursday, September 12th from 1-2:15pm. QPR is an evidence-based training for laypeople to learn how to effectively intervene when someone is in crisis, saving their life until they can access the care they need. Think CPR for the brain. This training is free and open to anyone 18 or older, but registration is required. Visit the link below to secure your spot. https://lnkd.in/gu-_C_p9
