Every year, we recognize our committed team members, dedicated volunteers, and community advocates at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center’s Honors Day. Our Honors Day breakfast is Thursday, September 19 at the Central Station Hotel. Congratulations and special thanks to this year’s award winners: The CPIT Excellence Award for Compassion honors members of the Shelby County Child Protective Investigation Team (CPIT) who have shown exceptional compassion to children and their families. Jalessa Harries, investigator with the TN Department of Children’s Services is our winner. The CPIT Excellence Award for Teamwork recognizes those whose performance shows commitment to exceptional professionalism and team collaboration. Dr. Erin Wade, child abuse pediatrician at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, will be recognized for teamwork this year. The Community Advocate Award honors a community member or organization whose efforts in Shelby County demonstrate commitment to the safety and well-being of children. This year’s Community Advocate Award goes to Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church. The Nediva Award honors a volunteer who has made invaluable contributions toward the center’s mission. Nediva is a Hebrew name which means noble and generous. It is the origin of the word volunteer. This year, CAC volunteer Tom Clifton will be recognized with the Nediva Award. The CAC team raised the Children's Memorial Flag on August 23, 2024, in memory of 1-year-old Kali Moore. Kali’s aunt and her aunt’s boyfriend have been charged with her tragic death. His mother and her boyfriend have been charged in his death. The flag will fly for one week in front of the Memphis CAC. The Memphis CAC seeks a Prevention Director who will be responsible for all our child sexual abuse prevention activities throughout Shelby County, Tennessee. The director leads a team of two full-time staff members and is a member of the CAC leadership team. The director is responsible for building relationships and partnerships with organizations to provide prevention training and resources.
