Food Safety Month is here. Do you know what you should or shouldn't pack for school lunch, and how to prepare it correctly? 🧼 Keep it Clean: Always wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food. Clean surfaces and utensils with hot water and soap. 🥪 Chill Perishable Items: Foods like sandwiches and fresh fruit need to be kept cool. Use insulated lunch totes with two cold sources, like frozen gel packs or juice boxes, to keep them chilled until lunchtime. 🍏 Rinse and Dry: Rinse fresh fruits and veggies under running water, even those with inedible skins. Blot them dry before packing. 🔥 Keep Hot Foods Hot: Use an insulated bottle to keep hot foods warm until lunch. Fill it with boiling water, let it stand, then replace with hot food. 🚮 Discard Leftovers: Make sure your child knows to throw out used food packaging and perishable leftovers to avoid contamination.
