We live in a world divided by ignorance, fear, and mistrust. This must and can change -- I have seen it! In the last 20 years, I have worked in 60+ countries with local communities and those wanting to visit them responsibly - churches, synagogues, Universities, nonprofits, etc - all who share this same conviction with me: We are all connected by shared values that cross cultures, languages, religions, nationalities, and ethnicities-and that there is far more that unites us than separates us. At MEJDI, we have proven that tourism -- when done in a multi-narrative and socially conscious way -- can be a powerful tool to create a more peaceful and interconnected world. Today, July 24, my partner on the path to peace, Aziz Abu Sarah and I will be arriving at the Congress during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Though we won't be addressing the joint session, we will be speaking in Congress at the same time as Netanyahu, and proposing a genuine and achievable vision of peace and reconciliation, as opposed to Netanyahu's vicious cycle of death and revenge. Our vision is clear: It’s time for a policy change. Instead of sending Israel weapons, and tools of destruction, it's time to send Palestinians and Israelis tools of reconciliation. Instead of marginalizing peacemakers, it's time that they sit at the negotiation table. "We are not rare voices. We hope you'll join Americans for Peace Now next Thursday, June 20th, for a special webinar hosted by outspoken peace activists, entrepreneurs, and social advocates Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon. These two speakers feel the loss and pain of October 7th and the carnage in Gaza that has followed especially keenly: both have lost family to the conflict before and on October 7th. Since 10/7, the two have appeared on various international forums regarding their partnership in establishing peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Most recently, they traveled together to Verona, Italy to meet Pope Francis and share their vision for the future: one where Israelis and Palestinians can move forward and live side by side. 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 Last week, I had the great honor and privilege of creating hope with the ambassadors of Norway and Sweden. Together with my friend & partner Kim Passy - Yoseph from MEJDI Tours, we hosted the ambassadors in the Old City of Nazareth. There is no better place to create hope than Nazareth. We envisioned and discussed a shared future for the two peoples between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. We engaged in a meaningful dialogue regarding our road map to make this vision a reality. We agreed that we must collaborate and take concrete actions. 𝗡𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵'𝘀 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲: we met with social activists, local entrepreneurs, and local residents who have been working together to create this reality. This dream began 19 years ago when I arrived in Nazareth and opened the city's first guest house, Fauzi Azar Inn. I am deeply grateful to my friends - the residents of Nazareth, the local entrepreneurs and the social activists for their partnership in turning our shared dream into a sustainable reality.
