💡 This is worth reading! We would like to share a very important activity that GUCI has been developing.
➡ Guardia Civil has been working with the association "A21" in Spain for several years, specifically in the area of combating human trafficking crimes. The A21 Campaign is a non-profit global organisation dedicated to fighting human trafficking and other issues.
ℹ As a result of their collaboration, the “Passport to indicators of trafficking” information brochure was developed. It targets the prevention of human trafficking, with a specific emphasis on forced labor. This document has been translated into nine languages: Spanish, English, French, Arabic, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Mandarin Chinese. The content is presented in a clear, concise language to provide information and indicators on exploitation and forced labor trafficking. The "passport" is distributed at strategic locations where victims or potential victims may be present, including borders. It has also been circulated to select GUCI units.
❕ This “passport” gains further importance when, at the outset of the conflict in Ukraine, GUCI distributes it - through liaison officers - at all Ukrainian borders to prevent the recruitment of vulnerable people escaping the war, predominantly women and children, by smuggling networks.
❗ The dissemination of indicators on trafficking is fundamental, for example, for the detection of this crime, which would increase the capacity of LEAs such as GUCI to identify possible victims; for the general public, who could bring it to the attention of the authorities; and even for the victims, who in many cases are unaware that they are victims.
It is believed that the actions described above, in addition to preventing and increasing the capacity to detect trafficking, demonstrate GUCI's commitment to the protection of vulnerable groups and the fight against trafficking.
📄 The passport can be downloaded from the association's website in Spain (https://lnkd.in/g6bs5YS5), under the tab "Trata de seres humanos".
The development of this "passport", as well as the collaboration, has been publicised on corporate social networks and in the Spanish press. For instance:
