Remember the joy of dropping spare change into a donation box as a kid? 🌟 Those small offerings, a tradition present across many cultures and faiths, taught us the value of giving, bit by bit. Today, as we navigate a world where digital payments like ApplePay and GooglePay have replaced cash for many, we're embracing modern ways to keep the spirit of giving alive for the next generation. That's why we set up Round-Up Donations that can be linked to your digital payments. Your purchase can support Meals on Main Street, turning everyday moments into opportunities for charity. Small change can lead to big impacts, ensuring every swipe or tap helps feed our community. Feeding Needs. Fostering Hope.
About us
The world has a surplus of food, so why can’t we eliminate food insecurity in our communities? To eliminate food insecurity we need to take the meal programs out of church basements and put them where everyone can access them. Meals On Main Street takes food that would be tossed aside and turns it into healthy meals delivered to the neighborhoods where it is needed most.

We have a better idea and we know it works. Donate what you would buy for your own family. Every year school students hold food drives for local pantries. This year we asked the students if they could donate perishable food instead and they loved it! When you shop for what you like for yourself and give it to someone in need you fill two hearts with joy, yours and theirs.
National Canned Food Month happens every February and focuses on making sure canned goods don't go to waste! Canned food is a great way to donate extra food to those in need. Help us fight hunger by donating canned goods to your local food pantry! #NationalCannedFoodMonth #UWWPCannedFoodDrive

This year Meals On Main Street is going all out to transform food pantries into healthy choice centers replacing junk food with fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and protein. We started with our own mobile pantry trucks and cooperative pantries bringing healthy food choices to food insecure communities. Now we want to inspire young people to grow produce and share it within their communities. We believe the place to start is in the schools. Want to create a healthier future for your kids? Join us. And we’ll be transforming lives. We invite you to become the gangsta gardener or the inspiration for your community to grow healthy.
This inspiring gardener has started veggie patches all around South Central LA — in abandoned lots, traffic medians and other unlikely places. Watch Ron Finley's full TED Talk here: http://t.ted.com/88WhMw6

How many great things in your career would have been missed if you chose to be afraid of failure?
"The hard choices — what we most fear doing, asking, saying — these are very often exactly what we most need to do." Watch Tim Ferriss' full TED Talk here: http://t.ted.com/SS4Hh2A

Back in December, a group of seventh and eighth graders from Rye exemplified what it means to step forward and make a meaningful difference. Organizing the Snow Ball event, they not only created a space for fun but also turned it into a powerful act of giving, raising $20,000 and collecting essential winter gear for those in need. This initiative serves as a reminder that, when given the opportunity, young people possess a keen understanding of the critical issues our community faces, including the urgency of combating hunger. Their commitment to mobilizing resources and fostering a culture of generosity is not just commendable; it's inspirational.

From our kitchen's daily soup to warming pots on our mobile food pantries, we've seen how the power of food can bring comfort and health to the people who are most at risk for health challenges due to poor nutrition. We're happy The Rockefeller Foundation understands this need through increased investment in its Food is Medicine program. https://lnkd.in/gVu8aN57

Can raising the minimum wage even make a dent in the cost of housing here in NY? According to this article, it would take a minimum wage of over $40 per hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment in NY. And that is assuming the fair market rent is $2084 per month. Here in Port Chester, an apartment on William St. is going for $2800, and in the new apartment buildings, rents go for $3000-$3800 per month. So what does it take to be able to afford to live and work locally? Certainly, a single income is not enough, even if the minimum wage is doubled or tripled. And what businesses can afford to offer salaries that keep up with inflation? At Meals on Main Street, we offer food so families can shift some of their budget to cover housing costs, but that is not enough. Maybe it is time to get creative about making affordable housing that is attractive, respectful and sustainable.
This map shows how much money renters in every state need to earn to afford a 2-bedroom apartment

In the heart of New Delhi, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a place of worship in Sikhism, stands as a beacon of hope and community spirit. Everyday they feed up to 40,000 people!
