Sometimes at golf outings I see a foursome and I think to myself, man I would love to golf with those folks...this Monday I think I got to be in that foursome. Bryan Rishforth & BJ Kraemer both titans of their respective industries, and of course the infamous Ryan Manion the standard bearer for how a non-profit should run and an example to future businesswomen everywhere (including the Fay Girls). I have known and worked with all of them for a long time but rarely do I get to spend quality time with them doing something other than work. It was an absolute pleasure trading notes, war stories, experiences, and mentorship with these three. The things you can learn when you take a break and enjoy moments like this are invaluable. Thank you three for supporting the cause and letting me play with the big kids!

Congratulations to the "RAD DADs" who won the 2024 Fire In The Hole golf tournament. We had a beautiful day of golfing, networking, and winning at Cedarbrook Country Club! A special thank you to the sponsors and golfers who help us raise funds to assist our Military and First Responder families when they get the unfortunate Knock at the Door. The outing is a reminder that there are people in harms way doing dangerous work so that we can all enjoy our families, friends, and careers. Let us not forget that our opportunities to thrive come at a much greater cost. The least we can do is play golf to rase some money for our guardians. Thanks again, and I hope to see you next year!

Resumes show performance and experience that has happened in the past. When you’re interviewing for a job, the goal is assessing for the future. You’re not hiring someone solely on their merit, you’re hiring them for their potential. Similarly, it not just what they were capable of before — it means what they are capable of developing into… ___ Don’t write off every candidate who lacks industry experience, and don’t hire someone based solely on what they have done in the past. Every new hire is a chance to bring NEW knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to your team; assess those against the strategic vision of your company’s future.

I interviewed a candidate yesterday who tactfully connected their past experience with all of the “job requirements” listed in the job description. Instead of a self-serving approach of “let me brag to you about my resume bullets and tell you why I am better than everyone else”, it was a problem-solving approach, addressing our company’s pain points (e.g. a hiring need that we have open). The subliminal message was: “you’ve shown me your company’s gaps - I’ve showed you how my strenghts offset those gaps…I’d like to know why you shouldn’t hire me instead of why you should” I call these “offensive interviews” and boy do I appreciate when a candidate shows up this way.
