Welcome to McDonald’s Thailand’s first of its kind restaurant focused on more #sustainable elements, inside and out. The restaurant’s exterior embraces a powerful alternative energy source – the sun! ☀️ #Solar rooftop panels and solar cell streetlights help store energy and reduce electricity. The vertical garden and lush greenery lining the restaurant’s walls also help keep the surrounding area nice and cool 🌳 The Happy Green restaurant is also working to reduce water consumption, leveraging a rainwater collecting tank to water plants 💧 Within the restaurant, auto censors on water taps help save 20-30% of water. One especially innovative aspect of the restaurant is its eggshell recycled trays, made from post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) and eggshells. Designed with support from McDonald’s supplier Cargill, the repurposed trays are estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% 🥚 #Thailand

The first-ever McDonald’s in Belgium just got a major, more #sustainable remodel. Located in Bourse, Brussels, the restaurant’s new design includes: ♻️ 100% of the plastic used in chair shells, tabletops and low stools is #recycled content 🌳 Over 80% of the wood used is Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certified, from the tree to the restaurant 💡 All energy-efficient lighting utilizes reusable fittings with replaceable LED chips 😎 Window shutters and suspensions are made from repurposed cardboard ☕️ Recycled coffee bean shells are incorporated into McCafé tabletops 🚫 Laminates, which are challenging to recycle, have been removed from all furniture and décor elements This refresh builds on a new circular décor concept which began testing in France and is gaining momentum.
