Employees at McCormick Australia recently joined forces with long-time partners OzHarvest and Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria & Tasmania (RMHC VIC & TAS) to reduce food waste through rescued ingredients. To kick off the new "Flavors for a Cause" program, about 30 McCormick employee volunteers came together in July to cook, stir, and chop alongside OzHarvest chefs and deliver 210 plates of gourmet meals for 70 residents and families of children at Ronald McDonald House North Fitzroy. The "Flavors for a Cause" meal preparation and delivery program in Australia joins up each organization's respective programs. RMHC VIC & TAS’s Meals from the Heart program gives residents a night off from cooking by having volunteers prepare and join the families for dinner. OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause sees volunteer teams learn zero-waste cooking skills from in-house chefs and transform rescued ingredients into gourmet meals. “Stitching together the missions of our various charitable organizations, we are excited to collaborate with our long-term partners, Ronald McDonald House Charities and OzHarvest," said Paris Golden, Managing Director of McCormick Australia. Although McCormick does not consume large amounts of water compared to other food companies, we monitor water use in both our operations and supply chain. In 2023, McCormick partnered with Ecolab to conduct Total Plant Assessments (TPAs) within our factories to understand where and how much water is being used and identify opportunities for water reduction. One of the first facilities to undergo a TPA was our Springfield, Missouri plant which manufactures condiments including the French's Mustard and Frank’s RedHot brands.
