We are a family foundation with operating and grantmaking programs reflecting a high impact, entrepreneurial approach to philanthropy. Mayberg Foundation staff spent a morning at Food & Friends, a foundation grantee, helping staff and other volunteers pack medically-tailored meals for DC-area community members with life-challenging illnesses. Food and Friends also provides groceries and nutrition counseling, all free-of-charge to the client, their dependents, and caregivers.

Creating meaningful and impactful Jewish day school educational experiences is at the core of our mission. It is why we established the Jewish Education Innovation Challenge (JEIC), which seeks to ignite students’ passion for Jewish learning by improving the way Jewish values, literacy, practice and beliefs are transferred to the next generation through professional development. So how do we scale these efforts to make a truly seismic shift? The Mayberg Foundation is honored to partner with Aish in their efforts to proliferate Jewish wisdom and values around the world.
One of Aish's most cherished roles is that of the “Partner.” Rabbi Noach Weinberg, zt’l, our founder, saw everyone as a partner in realizing his vision for AISH and the Jewish people. Last week, I had the honor of meeting with three true partners: Jake Aronov, Louis Mayberg, and Stuart Hytman, who serve as my personal mentors and role models. Our discussions, guided by a facilitator and joined by Aish COO Hillel Scheinfeld and Aish Executive Director Rabbi Ben Gonsher, focused on the attributes needed for future Aish leaders. Key among these is humility—putting the Jewish people above oneself. Rav Noach understood that we are all partners with each other and the Almighty. As the Talmud teaches, “Kol Yisroel Araivim Zeh l’zeh”—all Jews are responsible for one another. Together, we will build a bright future for the Jewish people. We are pleased to share the latest evaluation from our partner, Pedagogy of Partnership powered by Hadar, conducted by Rosov Consulting. The 2024 report focuses on PoP school leaders: administrators or teacher leaders who serve as liaisons between PoP and their school. The George Washington University Hillel Executive Director Adena Kirstein shares her thoughts on what has been happening on American college campuses over the past 9 months. We are proud to partner with GW Hillel as they continue to protect and support our college students' safety and Jewish identity in this tumultuous time.
Almost a year ago, a nugget of an idea started to percolate in my heart at the Shalom Hartman Institute, thanks to a tremendous opportunity for Hillel professionals created by Benjamin Berger and Justus Baird. I'm so thankful that a year later, that idea has now grown into an article highlighting a lot of what has been on my mind in the past months and years on-campus. This process of writing was a gift I do not take for granted, a chance to step back from the muck of the year and try to make meaning of it all. It wouldn't be possible without the care and curiosity of the Editor at Sources, Claire E. Sufrin. The whole issue, under her masterful eye, is a tool I hope will be utilized by many to understand campus life. Lifnai Vlifnim Global, Mayberg Foundation partner, welcomed both veteran educator partners and newcomers for two days of professional development and personal growth at their recent Summer Seminar 2024. Rabbi Yehuda Chanales and Yishai Singer taught participants how to facilitate activities and Torah learning that deepens self-awareness, community and connection to G-d and/or Jewish values and also had a chance to explore their strengths and personal mission as Torah educators. Seminar participants included educators from Ma'ayanot Yeshiva High School , SAR Academy, Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School, Ramaz Middle School, Kohelet Yeshiva Lab School & Middle School. We appreciate our partnership with UnitEd to support this important work.
