In today’s ever-changing world, military robots are becoming more and more important in our ability to respond to threats. According to retired Army Gen. Mark Milley, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, robots will comprise up to one-third of the U.S. military in the next 10-15 years. Last year the DoD announced the Replicator initiative, a DoD-wide process to accelerate the delivery of innovative capabilities to warfighters at speed and scale. In its first iteration, Replicator focuses on fielding autonomous systems in multiple thousands across multiple domains. The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) has been implementing this initiative. As part of our mission, MassRobotics strives to connect start-ups with potential customers and their challenges. We are pleased to host our next signature series event, Robotics in Defense, on September 17, 2024 where we will hear from DIU and others from the DoD about their initiatives and how start-ups can contribute to these efforts. If you are involved in UAVs, UGVs or other aspects of military robotics I hope you can join us.
