Most people in civil cases do not have the right to a lawyer, even though the consequences of civil cases can be severe and life-altering: people can lose their homes, health, safety, family and financial stability – all without ever having the opportunity to talk to a lawyer. In partnership with the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation, the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, and the Boston Bar Foundation of the Boston Bar Association, funds from the Massachusetts IOLTA Committee increase the capacity of organizations to offer critical legal help to people across the Commonwealth who cannot afford to hire a lawyer.
