ICYMI: #TeamMA won a $20 million award last week from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to reduce carbon emissions from homes and #buildings, train an equitable #cleanenergy workforce, and lower costs for those who call #Massachusetts home. This investment from the Biden-Harris Administration will make it easier for Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to work closely with the buildings sector to share best practices and partner with trades programs to ensure workers have the training they need to accelerate our clean energy transformation. We’re doing this work because we know that people are healthier, safer, and more financially secure when homes and buildings are energy efficient and resilient. Winning this award was truly a team effort! Thanks to Secretary Rebecca Tepper, Commissioner Elizabeth Mahony and our colleagues at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, Director of Federal Funds and Infrastructure Quentin Palfrey, the City of Boston, and the City of Cambridge. A special thanks to MassCEC’s High-Performance Buildings and Workforce Development teams for their contributions to the Commonwealth’s application: Peter McPhee, Jennifer Applebaum, Katherine Straus, Raija Vaisanen, Thomas Chase, Beverly Craig, and Irene Posada! Amazing news for MA residents and commercial building owners! 🏙 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced that #Massachusetts, along with the City of Boston and the City of Cambridge, will receive nearly $20 million to accelerate the implementation of building performance standards that will make the places we live and work more energy efficient and resilient. These funds will empower building trades programs in #Justice40 communities and lead to the creation of a Building Performance Exchange hub. Congratulations to MassCEC’s Workforce Development and High-Performance Buildings teams for their contributions to this win! Read DOE’s press release for more information ⬇
