ICYMI: #TeamMA won a $20 million award last week from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to reduce carbon emissions from homes and #buildings, train an equitable #cleanenergy workforce, and lower costs for those who call #Massachusetts home. This investment from the Biden-Harris Administration will make it easier for Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to work closely with the buildings sector to share best practices and partner with trades programs to ensure workers have the training they need to accelerate our clean energy transformation. We’re doing this work because we know that people are healthier, safer, and more financially secure when homes and buildings are energy efficient and resilient. Winning this award was truly a team effort! Another win for our #transportation system and #climate! Massachusetts will receive $16.2 million in #BipartisanInfrastructureLaw funding to install public electric vehicle charging stations in Boston and parks across the state. These funds from the USDOT's Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Program will allow us to make electric vehicle travel accessible in more places while advancing our climate goals. ICYMI: Last month, the Massachusetts Broadband Institute's implementation proposal for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program was officially approved, which clears the way for $147 million in #BipartisanInfrastructureLaw funding aimed at closing the digital divide to come to Massachusetts. The approval puts us one step closer to achieving 100% #broadband access statewide and builds on a series of investments that will allow us to close gaps in coverage, improve affordability, and ensure quality of internet service across our state. Last week was the second anniversary of the signing of the #InflationReductionAct. Two years and roughly $900 million in federal funding for Massachusetts later, here are some highlights showing how this transformational law has impacted MA projects so far: -$156 million for the state’s Solar for All Program, which will support clean energy investments for 31,000 low-income and disadvantaged households. The initiative is expected to support 2,800 clean energy jobs and decrease annual carbon emissions by 70,000 tons☀️;   -$146 million in anticipated formula funding for Home Efficiency Rebates and Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates, which will support home energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits🏠; -$100 million to rapidly scale the production and use of heat pumps, a key technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as part of a $450 million award for the New England Heat Pump Accelerator🔥;   -$50 million from the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program to make green upgrades to affordable housing facilities🏢;   -$22 million for planting and maintaining forestry in cities across the state🌳; -$10 million to train workers for jobs that improve resiliency in response to climate change, including training for jobs in construction, emergency preparedness, and water utility management in the City of Boston🏗️, and many other projects that will propel our clean energy transition, protect and restore critical ecosystems, and advance environmental justice in our communities. As we head into the next year of the IRA, we are dedicated to continuing our whole-of-government strategy to maximize the impact of this law in Massachusetts.

Yesterday, FFIO Director Quentin Palfrey alongside our partners from MassTech joined the U.S. Economic Development Administration and Rhode Island Commerce today in the City of New Bedford and Bristol, RI to discuss the future of our region's Ocean Tech Hub. The Ocean Tech Hub designation will allow us to foster and grow our region's ocean-technology industry, a vital sector for innovation in the face of climate change. We look forward to continuing to secure federal dollars to support our climate tech goals and ensure this industry continues to thrive in Massachusetts. #OceanTech #ClimateTech

This week, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that a Massachusetts-led coalition of New England states will receive $389 million in #BipartisanInfrastructureLaw funding to make transformational changes to our #grid, allowing for more utilization of renewable energy in our region. This award will propel our clean energy transition, support more than 500 high-paying jobs and workforce development programming in disadvantaged communities and increase our grid's reliability while lowering costs for consumers.
